Thanks Nasty, yeah thats some of my good stuff.

The orange bike is a 1977 Hercules GS350 7 Speed. I totally restored it a few years back. It`s a real handful No reeds or powervalve, just comes on like a giant 125!

I had it registered and rode it around on the street for a few months. Kinda fun but it handles like a refrigerator

Kurt.

The Hercules was made in Germany, by Sachs. pretty funky, the cases split horizontally!

all the bikes against the wall are Pentons. I`ve got Pentons from 1967 to 1977, 125`s- 400`s the '76 400 has 380 orig miles!

Pentons were actually KTM`s and John Penton had a 10 year agreement (67-77) to market the KTM in the US under the Penton name.

Jan, the IT175 is a 78, I agree, they were a fantastic woods bike. I bought mine new with paper route money!

I also have a 79 IT and an '83 that I also bought new, has 500 orig miles.

I love this stuff, back then the sport was cheap. In 1976 I bought a new, left over, 125 Elsinore for 499.00!

Who else is into this crazy hobby?

The Hodaka`s are getting to be really popular with collectors, Last spring I sold a 100 Super rat on ebay for 1800.00! had over 20 bids on it!

Biggus, I regularly check our local paper for early 80's dirt bikes. I want to find a YZ490 in good shape. With a milled head and good pipe that 4spd monster is ultra reliable (and air-cooled), really not in to radiators and antifreeze maintenance on a dirt bike. In my garage I have an 82 XR250R engine with a PowerRoll stroker kit, maybe 10hrs on it. Broke the frame and the prolink on the bike and could never find the Prolink parts cheap.

We have a new place called Vintage Cycles that has been open for a year, the guy is restoring only vintage MX bikes. I am afraid to stop in and look around.

I see you are from Maine, spent a year in Bath in 84 waiting for our ship to be completed (FFG-42 Klakring). Truly loved it up there.
