They tend to use Recaro or similar seats in big highend sports cruisers. They are really cool, but I don't know if they offer one in some sort of weatherproof version.

Have you seen the Nissan Xterra? They offer an option for pullover NEOPRENE seat covers. Wetsuit material. Perhaps somebody offers those style of covers for sports seats. OR maybe you can find some inexpensively from a wrecked Xterra?

My application uses a short pedestal appx 1' mounted to raised fibergass bases at both front stations. What I was considering were some of th eupscale racing seats designed for automotive applications. Many are available in materials which would withstand a water enviroment. Sice they are for racing applications they would be structually suitable fo rmarine also I'd think.

Anyone out there ever considered this as a option or have other thoughs ?

try camburg.com they sell the Sparco stuff at a good price. I bought mine there. They cater to the off road baja style trucks.

If you look at the Dragon Powerboat pictures... you will see Recaro car seats mounted on platforms... I'm thinking there will be more installations like this... it's cool!
