Fastest V-Bottom Period
I would like to hear your thoughts on the fastest pound for pound v-bottom stock boat. (steps included) Let's say twin HP 500 max power and 32' minimum. My opinion is as follows in order (top three). I am just looking for opinions and information. I am not trying to start a war...
1. Outer Limits 2. Hustler 3. Fountain |
apples to apples
Fountain's are always fast w/ stock power. They test more than any other manufacturer. Rough water is not about top speed and this topic could go on forever. This thread has been beat to death! BH
|
I agree that Fountain's are fast, but I think the same size Outer Limits or Hustler will be faster. It would probably only be fair to compare the 42' Fountain to the 37 O/L and 38 S/S. They are actually about the same size. Do you know of any websites or anyplace to find info on this matter?
|
Fastest period, I think fountain has a Douglas Marine built that showed 142 and change but I talked with Mike Fiore and said Outerlimits 47 sit down with staggered 1300 Sterlings was going 147.
|
With twin 500hps you might want to also concider the Gladiator the Donzi, and the twin step 35 Pantera.
|
He wants 34' and 500 hp power like they said the fountain should be 3-4 feet longer than the rest to be a fair comparison beek and all.......I think the Outerlimits......they kick ass on the poker run circuit!
|
Sunsation...Dominator and soon, Innovator! Then later on, the 396...
|
why???
too variables!!...what water?,,,,who driving/throttling?,,,,what rules???... |
here we go again..........
Phantom , Skater , Velocity, Cigarette - they're all fast as hell. Engine innovations , drives and light weight materials make these boats fast! BH
|
Joe think of it as the same conditions, same driver, same dude on throttles....all being equal who's the fastest?
|
Fountain is the hands down fastest top end v-bottom boat out there. 37 OL is a nice boat, but they are NOT as fast as a fountain. the Gladiator is close competitor, but they are not good in the turns. If you want to know who is the fastest, just check the kilo numbers. I also think that if somebody would rig a new 38 fountain for F-2, they would do very well.

I haven't witnessed it in person, but the numbers I've seen suggest the O/L and Hustler are faster than the Fountain. I'm looking at a comparison on 37 O/L, 38 Hustler, and 42 Fountain (all with twin HP 500). These seem to be comparable in size.
|
Spend the $, but the OuterLimits, and you will not regret the investment. You will have the best, and in the real world, where most of us boat, changing seas, lots of fuel, full cockpit, lots of stuff on board, you will be at the front, HP for HP.
|
facts....a fountain currently has the world kilo for APBA F2....a scarab won daytona....a donzi won cape cod and had faster lap times than the SVL2's did!...still it's an impossible question!!!!
are we talking racing and racers??? |
HERE WE GO AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SAVE ENOUGH TO BUY A CAR ,BUY A 42 FOUNTAIN EVEN A 900 #6 BOAT AND A CAR FOR WHAT A O/L OR 388 COST PLUS 388 WILL SHAKE RATTLE AND ROLL !!!!!! MY 2 CENTS WORTH !! I'M OUT OF THIS THREAD :D :D :D :D |
It's a ridiculous question  It is one of the most shallow questions asked about every six months. (Well the question about Does anyone build a better boat than ...? is pretty bad too)
It starts by asking "Fastest V-Bottom Period" and immediately starts adding parameters... limit motors .... minimum length .... If you are running stock power, you are not going to be the fastest anything on the water. If you have a fountain, do you want to know what the fastest model is? If you have a Bayliner, do you want to know what the fastest model is? Or, If you have a v-drive shallow v-bottom w/ BBC .............. Bla bla bla ....... |
yada yada yada.....
|
Sorry for not being specific enough.
What is the fastest recreational v-hull with the same HP and drives 37' - 42'? Is that specific enough? |
That's better .... I'll vote for a 388 Hustler ;)

The Bad Boy Powerboat
|
no...it's really NOT.
one added thing...we are the F2-21 APBA boat....not the F2-21 SBI bad boy boat |
The Bad Boy Powerboat Does 96.5 mph with 500 hps
Do I say More........ |
man...that BLOWS away the APBA kilo record by more than 3 mph...you don't need to say more....just come race APBA F2 and show us.
|
Joey, Come to New Jersey and come for a ride.

Joey
Look for THE SON OF THE BAD BOY. soon it`s a 30 footer |
Runaway
Very impressive numbers, What is Bad Boys website?? Thats really fast for 2 500s, Bad Boy really should race that boat to earn respect and raise the bar!!!!!!!! As for the others listed, I say Fountain, but it really depends on load, setup, conditions, other variables??? Will |
..come to Jersey...
Yeah Joe...I think you & Mike should spend some quality time together....:D

I'm not very familiar with kilo events. Is there anyplace I can lookup information on winners, speeds, etc?
|
I personally have never seen a O/L with anything less than HUGE power. Who can really comment on how fast they are with stock power?
|

i think todd and tres would tell you different!! it's who's run'n the boat!...all boats will go slower when you make a mistake...forgiving ones, no big deal...less fogiving ones like a cig. will bite you in the ass!...tres and todd don't make many mistakes
|
i make no claims...i'll just have to let my actions and results (past and present) speak for themselves. i do not see NJ on the APBA pro tour.
just make sure it measures 30'+ per the APBA rules....i look forward to seeing it:) |
Joe,
just razzin' you & Mike..:D ..the Bad Boy is a sweet boat..& Tony's got the next one on the way, like Mike was sayin'.... cheers! Marty  |
M,
i know!!!i really don't mind at all!!! i think we need someone raz'n us all the time...how they're going to put the smack down us...we just play the other side...:) |
Any of you guys familiar with the 388 Hustler "Total Loss" up in Boston, MA? It has twin K/E 750's and is suppose to run about 110.
|
Every one has there own opinion. I speek from what I see. I have run 18 poker runs this year and I have never been passed buy a OL. fountain ,388,or any other hp500 powerd boat.Thay all test and boast big mph. but I have ran them all down and passed them. Hell I have driven them all .The velocity is still the fastest. This pased tuesday 1-2 foot chop 3/4 tanks of fuel 84.5 with 4 people. The boat has ran 88.6 and no it is not light 8700# I drove across the state (fl) to drive a new boat that the owner said would run 87 .And gues what it ran 81 with 4 people.A race boat is a totaly diferant boat. When was the last time you seen a 388 fast tech run 89. The phantom I drove ran 88 and it was a ball to drive! And the bad boys when you make a poker run boat call me Im interested. See yal at the Miami boat show Tom D.

Back4More says,
"A short-stagger 38' Fountain is what you need"...One could buy the one of those other ones mentioned and go fast, but it won't handle as well. Reggie boy puts a lot of R/D into his bottoms to make them as fast and safe as possible...your getting a fine tuned design in a Fountain. :p |
mmo jo - What do you drive?
