THE MANUFACTURES HAVE THE BEST MACHINE SHOPS IN THE WORLD. iT IS JUST LIKE A FACTORY CORVETTE ENGINE. YOU CAN BUILD A CUSTOM MOTOR WITH ALOT MORE POWER BUT WILL IT GO 100,000 MILE BETWEEN TUNE UPS UNDER WARRANTY. YOU CAN'T TOUCH THE BIG BOYS WHEN IT COMES TO RELIABILITY. IF I GO TO BUY A CAR AND I HAVE A CHOICE OF FACTORY CRATE MOTOR OR A MOTOR BUILT BY A QUALITY REBUILD SHOP WHAT DO YOU THINK I'M PICKING?

i have seen merc stuff blow up just as easy as custom stuff... depends on what you want?

if you want more than 1075, you have to go to somebody besides merc....

I put 200 hours on a pair of 700 Zuls with no problems what so ever.Currently using Merc 525,s. I think they are both great products, just depends how you plan to use them.

It's up to you to pick your poison. We have the new 1075's and haven't had any problems, "due" to the engines. Even though I have heard stories and there is some fuel pump issues.
I see you have changed your tune Merc must of got you running again with those 1050's.Good Luck

I would think allmost all of the big marine engine builders have some sort of warrenty [its included in the price ]. if one is abused or not maintained Nobody will warrenty it not even Merc.

The best equipment doesn't do ya any good if the person running it does a halfass job on machining it .Or the person working at that Manufacturer or top engine builder doesn't assemble the motor right.

I love my KE800SCs 200+ hours and no problems...

Had to chime-in to offset the "rod throwing" post....

The 1075's weren't the problem. It was rigging.. All rigging.
