Want to get into boat racing and make a small fortune?

Start with a BIG FORTUNE!:D

Audiofn 02-25-2003 07:20 AM

An obviously flawed pole as we already have three dreamers saying over 200MPH.

388Hustler 02-25-2003 07:31 AM

I agree. Maybe there was some cofusion on the decimal point...

HyperBaja 02-25-2003 07:35 AM

Oh good, there was a 0-49 one for me :D

Cord 02-25-2003 07:45 AM

Oh, don't worry hyper. Waterfoul should be joining you soonly. ;)

JaayTeee 02-25-2003 08:14 AM

Is this speed on water, or on the
trailer
That could significantly raise the bar:D :D ;)

Dueclaws 02-25-2003 08:30 AM

If I post the photo of the GPS "at speed", will you promise not to tell my insurance company? :D

Ya might as well !!!!!! After reading the arcticle to the last PowerBoat,,,if you excessivly lie about the top speed and have an accident,,,, you dont have ans insurance company anyway !!!!!!!!

No one is going to be able to argue about 5-10 mph I would think,,, but if you say it does 70 and its a 100 mph boat,,,your going to have problems.

According to the article the now have speed tables for boats and what they should do with "X" power.

Kent Perroux 02-25-2003 10:02 AM

2 sets of engines; 1 for cuising and insurance, and 1 set for bragging rights.

26scarab 02-25-2003 10:13 AM

If trailering speed counts ,I've had mine to 100 !!:D

JUSTONCE 02-25-2003 10:57 AM

just curious, could some of you 150- 210 people post pics of your boats, are they drag boats or offshore boats.

RHC 02-25-2003 11:24 AM

DRAG OR OFFSHORE BOATS;;

They are Bar Boats,,,, after each shot of Jack, they are 5MPH faster ,, at the end of the nite they all run 100, but the next day, I passed them all ,, and I was running 85

RHC

JUSTONCE 02-25-2003 11:31 AM

My thoughts exactly but I didn't want to start a war.

packinair 02-25-2003 11:37 AM

 I am not seeing 10 at speed gps photos and I have no plane tickets from fed ex...

HyperBaja 02-25-2003 02:51 PM

Who are the other 2 under 49?

GLH 02-25-2003 03:35 PM

It's like watching a horse race checking on this poll!

388Hustler 02-25-2003 04:25 PM

31 boats (approx. 17%) in triple digits.

WOW!!!

Sure wish I could post a pic of the top speed in my GPS. As I recall, it's around 490mph.

Hey Tim,

BITE ME!!!!

I don't have a pic to back it up, but I've seen 64.7 on the GPS at LOTO, just minutes before running a 59.8 on my shootout run.

And how fast was your boat last season Tim?? Oh wait, you DIDN'T HAVE ONE THAT MOVED UNER IT'S OWN POWER!!!!

Cord 02-25-2003 05:04 PM

Yes, I did...for about 15 minutes...before it broke. But I did hit 50mph! :D

eMotiondriver 02-25-2003 05:06 PM

I voted twice one for the '41 Higgins and the other an eggbeater

SpectreBoy 02-25-2003 05:07 PM

Waterfoul 02-25-2003 05:09 PM

Foul Water....When I win the lottery and pump millions into the little red baja.... I just keep telling myself that stock is fun and reliable.... How many of you with built motors run WOT all day long with no problem, and plus I get good gas mileage. Oh well, when I get a boat, It will be worth the wait. (I keep telling myself that too) :D

Who are the other 0-49 people?? C'mon!! if you vote, dont be afraid to fess up!!

CigDaze 02-25-2003 06:41 PM

I want to know who are the 3 going faster than 200mph...
I know of one and it's no small feat!!!!!

Come on, fess up!!

Anyway, it's a pretty reasonable bell curve, awesome!
Kind of what I would expect, statistically.

mcollinstn 02-25-2003 08:39 PM

Hyper

My 20,000 pound diesel cruiser is one of your brethren. It only runs 41.

You would've had another friend in there, too, but the 13' Whaler has been running over 50 since I swapped the 30 horse out for a hotrodded shortshaft Johnson 55.

I've been meaning to post this for a while, this thread provoked it. I didn't know we were in such crowded company. Unless half of our team has submitted a vote.

MarinePerformance 02-25-2003 09:45 PM

This number didn't come easily. Theres a steep learning curve and it's taken a great deal of dedication and hard work by a resilient group of people to get there not to mention a very dedicated benefactor. We're not done yet either, it's just gains come in much smaller percentages at this point.

Top speeds one thing but wouldn't it be great to see what this boat could do on the offshore circuit...

MarinePerformance 02-25-2003 09:54 PM

It's the Callan T-48

Not mine but I'm a bit partial to it.

Twin T55 L-7 engines - 2,500 hp each.

BPM Surface Drives

jc

MarinePerformance 02-25-2003 09:55 PM

Go to www.callanmarine.com.

It'll take me another 1/2 hour to size a photo down small enough to fit on the board.

packinair 02-25-2003 09:56 PM

Marine performance. I think I am going to need a verification test ride. I am thinking that GPS was taken in some kind of mig fighter jet;) ;) WOW

MarinePerformance 02-25-2003 10:08 PM

When the boats "right" it's surprisingly calm. We have cockpit video at over 200 mph that looks like we're sitting at the dock. Propellers and lcg affect the boat pretty dramatically. We're going to attempt the propeller driven speed record with it again this summer. We were weathered out twice in December.

I don't know if you want the fuel bill, over 400 gph at wot.

jc

MarinePerformance 02-25-2003 10:21 PM

During our last high speed test session, (We've been testing OFFSHORE for the last few weeks) we had three back to back runs over 200 mph for over 2 miles at that speed.

jc

MarinePerformance 02-25-2003 10:30 PM

Less than 18 seconds per mile

What does the hydro handle like? Are you steering or just holding on?

So, speed record can't take more than 1/2 hour. So that's my fuel bill for a weekend. I'll pay. Hell, I'll pay just to watch!!
