If you want a great shooting everday pistol out of the box, go with a Browning Buckmark Plus. I absolutely love mine.

Look for a old High Standard. You can take the bullsey out of the target by shooting around it

I've owned or do own just about all the guns mentioned here. The Buckmark is a nice afordable piece, but the S&W 41 is a Bad Mo Fo. I never expieienced the jaming problem someone mentioned. Its like any other auto, gotta clean it and gotta use good ammo.

JON---- I have a HIGH STANDARD Trophy matic 22LR
WOW what a pistol- Very accurate. Like you said you can take the center out of the target. Lately I have gotten into pellet rifels. I bought a DIANE -- 1100 ft per second.

Browning Buckmark 5.5 Target is worth a look. I like the grips on and over all feel better than the Rugers. Best thing to do is go down to your gun shop and just pick them up, find the one that fits you best. You can't really go wrong with any of the brands listed by everyone.
