SummerO: I was on the phone with Latham the other day and I asked them that question and they said that there is no safty difference what so ever. They said that the only difference is that you can change the toe angle more with the tie bar mounted farther out IF you trim them to different heights.

That's what I thought. I guess I like the looks of the bar mounted on the caps, but that would be the only reason.
