Any firm info as to where the wet pits will be for the Daytona race? Last year it sucked at the old power plant.

Also will it have restricted access or special fee to get in??

Thanks in advance..Here are a few shots of last years..

I have a stupid question.

Why do they crane all the race boats into the water? I can see the larger ones, but a F1 that is easily trailered? Provided a ramp is in the vacinity why use a crane? Is that in the rules somewhere?

At the site shown. in New Smyrna Beach, the pits were a makeshift dock installed just for the races. There is no ramp in that area. There is a ramp and regular marina between this site and Daytona whih is rumored to be used in 2003.

I think (poor memory) they used both ramp and crane at St Cloud.

..I think the Pro Series boats are weighed by the crane too....????...

audacity 03-11-2003 10:36 AM

#1. weights in and out..
#2. it WAY f's up the trailer.
#3. bottom inspections can be done.

you can do what ever you want but you have to be craned out after the race!

O* wait...#4...it looks cool

The location is the Swoope power plant in New Smyrna. My house is right next to the site on the river. If any of you guys want to tie up for the races you are welcome to. Lets set something up. I have a dock and 2 lifts. I am very close to the inlet, disappearing island, and some local bars on the water.....uh oh. Well let me know if any of you guys will be in the area and want to put something together. My partner owns a nightclub in Daytona so we may be able to give some OSO entertainment......did I say it was a strip club???

...........sounds do-able. Do you know how many miles
it is to the race course by water?? Thank-you.

d-hlaw-

My buddy almost bought that property for build as a marina but lost the bidding at the last moment. He is in the final stages of securing the property next to Boston Whaler for a lagoon/marina/resort. Check out the news journal for a story. One of the reporters just called him.

The new marina will open in early 2004 in Edgewater.

By the way.. Is Chases a good hangout?? We missed the Bikini contest during biker week..:( :(

its about 8 miles to the course from the wet pits.
