Default Need to get rid of sea gulls

I have a huge sea gull problem, they crap all over my dock and soon my boat will be on the lift so they will crap on that. When I am here I just shoot them with a .22, it work's and is fun. But I am not here all the time. I have the owl, the big eye ball, and the snake. needless to say they do nothing. My five year old for some reason can't or wont say sea gull so he tell's everybody that I shoot eagle's so I want to stop shooting them when he's around. I have seen the sonic noise thing's and am sure one will work but they are all like $500 so I want to get the one that works best. Thanks for any input that might be helpfull to get rid of the gull's and keep me out of jail for shooting eagle's.

I was just in the Keys and saw this set up. It was some kind of motion sensor that was hook to a water sprinker head. When it detected motion, the sprinkler went back and forth once.

I've been waiting to tell someone about this. Here's a web site.

We had the same problem I don't know how this works but it does. You have to have uprights high enough so you can still walk on the dock. We used clear fishing line tied to the tops of the uprights and criss crossed between the uprights. We did this 2 years ago and not 1 seagull since!!!!! We also had a couple of short uprights at the end of the pier that they were still landing on ,we taped plastic straws around the top and bent them in so they wouldn't land on them.. Simple solution that works.

I bought an Owl that was on a moving base and had a motion sensor and would send out it's call. It worked fine for use but needed battery change once a month.

The seagulls where a real problem in the begining of the season but once more people came to the marina the birds left.
we used to find everything from chicken bones to crabs on the deck, what a mess.
