OHHH Canada!!!

Montreal Fans Boo The Star Spangled Banner

Teammate Mark Parrish, a native of Bloomington, Minn., was upset hearing the boos.

"I came to the game pretty pumped up, but once I heard that it really got me going," Parrish said. "So I guess I can thank them a little bit for getting me more pumped up."

Thanks for kicking their butts Islanders, 6 to 3!!!! Final Score

Count on that happening after what they did.

I hope not. I hope that we have a little more class then that. National anthems have always been a sort of sacred thing at all games. Even when we played the Russians back all those years ago.

I am just reminded of the South Park Movie.............BLAME CANADA BLAME CANADA :D:D:D

spitfire1 03-21-2003 07:17 AM

Twinn 29.....that is pretty sad isnt it??? There seems to be alot of this type of thinking permeating the board lately......not a real good reflection........but rest assured....not everyone down here thinks in these terms..........Rich

Dredgeking 03-21-2003 07:21 AM

canada is a fine place. remember quebec wanted to remove themselves form canada not that many years ago. the enitre country should not be penalized for the FRENCH in quebec.

Dredgeking 03-21-2003 07:22 AM

i DO NOT in any way shape or form support the FRENCH, but i do like canada. (mostly ontario)

pullmytrigger 03-21-2003 07:26 AM

Oh I know, they want to seperate and be a totally seperate nation, yet they want to keep our money system and all our social programs and benifits.......they're too much

pullmytrigger 03-21-2003 07:30 AM

Gotta admit they're chicks are super hot though.....

Chris288 03-21-2003 07:35 AM

Hockey fans are some of the most passionate i've ever seen, about the sport and our country. you can bet any canadian teams playing in the u.s. are going to get booed like never before... dont say I agree w/ it but its gonna happen.

last time i was there someone told me the age of consent was only 15  what the hell are they thinking?

floatingphil 03-21-2003 07:44 AM

The Canadian National Anthem has been booed in the past at U.S. sporting events. The most recent that I can recall was last year's Stanley Cup playoffs; Toronto vs New York Islanders.
There is no excuse for any of it.

spitfire1 03-21-2003 07:45 AM

The province of Quebec pretty much goes the same way as the French do it seems..........it is no surprise that they are not happy with the U.S..... But to categorize Canada because of the actions of a few is not right........The press gives the impression that all Canadians feel this way....I for one dont believe that for a minute......But, the fact remains that we have pretty much alienated everyone with this action......I hope that we can reconcile the damage done because we are going to need the world community with the ever increasing threats from all over the world........

kingpin 03-21-2003 07:57 AM

I'll take up arms and fight with you for FREEDOM.........when & where?

Oh & I'll bring the Beer:D

Well put twinn-
Serious attitude problems in that province cause problems for all the good in Canada.
I've been going to our family place in Ontario since I was born and absolutely love it and have many friends there. (we've been property owners there since the mid 1950's).
Quebec has always been screwed up. Other than the nice eye candy in Montreal, spending time there for Pratt & Whitney engines was awful; similar to my visits to France. (and I speak French!)

The country is our neighbor for better or worse- we must not lower ourselves to the level of a few idiot French-Canadians!
Jim

I've noticed a heck of a lot of America bashing with no shortage comming from Canada. That being said, I also know Canada is a big country with a diverse population that may or may not agree with the booing of our National Anthiem. We've got our fair share of idiots here too. I voiced my opinion of the situation of late and probably should have said "America bashing" instead of "that country"

Milord 03-21-2003 08:50 AM

I think that whenever tensions are high and people have such strong differing opinions this will happen. I'm sure Canada has been bashed a ton by Americans lately because our dumbass leader is a fence sitting *****. Does that reflect my views, f**k no but yet I'm stereotyped because of him. There is going to be a lot of bashing of everyone in the next little while, lets try not to take it to heart.

Dredgeking 03-21-2003 09:04 AM

REMEMBER: CANADIAN BEER RULES!!!!!!

mcollinstn 03-21-2003 09:13 AM

I have no problems with "CANADA" just as I have no problems with "AMERICA". We have just as many vocal turdball idiots in our OWN country booing and clogging streets in some clueless attempt at "stopping" the war (I can see it now: Commanders, please recall your troops and come home, or else the citizens will not come in out of the rain from their protests...).

I do, however, want to b!tch slap each and every one of the street-cloggers and anthem booers, as well as Canada's d!ck l!cking purse-wearing pantywaisted fearless leader.

Now, FRANCE, maybe I'm not as cool about that situation...

Dredgeking 03-21-2003 09:52 AM

i watched that movie way too many times. :)

Airpacker 03-21-2003 10:14 AM

I would like to start off by saying one thing. Johnny Cruton is a FRENCH canadian. That in itself should tell you something about our government. Unfortunately,we Canadians live in a country where power begets power. We are stuck with a never ending line up of LIBERAL( read socialist bastard ) French canadian leaders waiting to socially engineer the rest of Canada to suit their F#####G warped minds and ideals. I have never voted Liberal in my life nor will I. I as a proud Canadian citizen dread each and every word that spews forth from the mouths of our elected leader and his dam trained seals(governing party). They are a collection of spineless, useless, power mongering ,tax and spend A-HOLES. They DO NOT represent me,my thought or opinions or for that matter, any single person I know. The shame he and his band of do nothing, bad mouthing jerk offs has brought to this country with the RED disection of our once proud military is overwhelming. He is a ruthless socialist who controls his government with threats and bribes. Its easy to do when the members of your party are spineless lapdogs only worried about holding onto their GOLDEN paycheques. Please do not ever think that CANADIANS as a whole support him,his policies, his cronies or the A holes that appear on your news channels bad mouthing America and Americans. He is a leader elected to power on the slimmest of victories only due to the fact that the political RIGHT in this country is in total dissarray and vote splitting amongst the right has proved to be fatal to all who disagree with the socialist LIBERAL dream.

As for the French Canadian hockey fans in Montreal booing your National anthem, would you really care what the hell they have to say? They are just a bunch of nowhere dickheads from a nowhere city in a nowhere province that wants to be a big important country. Too bad they don't even have the brains to wipe their own asses.

Please remember that THEY do NOT represent the rest of Canada.

Risk Taker 03-21-2003 10:19 AM

Hey Air.....

Come on, loosen up and tell us how you really feel......:D;)

Airpacker 03-21-2003 10:30 AM

Hey Troutly.....TAKE OFF!!!!;)

Allan4 03-21-2003 11:07 AM

Air packer, thanks for the last post, good to hear from a passionate Canadien, same for Twin29. I agree with you guys totally.

I think that many Americans are getting a little short tempered about the lack of respect and the lack of greatfulness we are shown here in the USA. How different would the world be if we were not as powerful as we are.........or if we did not exist? How many countries have we defended, liberated, rebuilt, financed and falt bailed out?

Not Canuck bashing, I like Canada and appreciate what you have explained to us about the state of the country and how a few idiots do not represent the whole......just like the morons in teh USA protesting STILL the war....blocking traffic, etc...

Airpacker 03-21-2003 11:30 AM

Allan4,you are welcome but pleeeeease watch the spelling. "Canadien" is the FRENCH spelling. "Canadian" is the right way thank you.:D
\Oh,and just to set the record straight, not all French Canadians think the same. There are many who would like to see Johnny Cruton take a long walk in the streets of Baghdad.

pullmytrigger 03-21-2003 06:05 PM

It was interesting, I spent a week in Kingston Ont a couple of years back staying on the boat in the Marina, there was a whole dock full of French Canadians, about 10 or 12 boats in all, I found I had more in common with the four couples from northern NY state than all the French Canadians combined. Real nice bunch of people, even invited me to their Alex Bay fun run........kinda sad but nonetheless true.........Shawn(Airpacker): somehow I knew you'd have something to say about this thread!!! :D ;) .........and for the record I have never voted Liberal in my life and niether has anyone I know...........Doug
And yeah, sometimes when I see the tax on my paycheque I feel like moving and joining you guys in the US, its bull$hit. Shawn is right , the political right in the country is in complete dissarry and cannot get the Liberals out of office

Lucididee 03-21-2003 06:08 PM

Send Natalie Maines (Dixie Chicks) there. A match made in heaven.

cuda 03-21-2003 06:41 PM

Let us not forget the the Canadians helped us get our hostages out of Iran. We don't want to be accused of having a short memory like France!

Allan4 03-21-2003 10:43 PM

Got it.......CanadiAn......HeHeHe......I want nothing to due with defending the French!! Sorry:D ;)

I played a bit of hockey in Canada and number of years ago, know the National Anthem (BTW I really like that song). I always thought it was cool to have both anthems played before the games. The CanadiAns (:D quick learner:D )were always very freindly and welcomed us with signs and banners and the such. Pretty cool stuff, fun to be recognized whilein the States they could have cared less!! HAHAHAHA......no place like home baby.....God Bless the ole Us o' A.

Lucididee 03-21-2003 10:53 PM

Cuda,

I agree with you, but they forget things quickly.

One of the 1st to help, and one of the 1st to ditch. They just go both ways! Go figure.
