Does everyone run the caps from merc or are there aftermarket caps that may be better? I have a 2000 502, and someone told me last year to look for a blue streak cap. They always used the regular merc cap but said this one had brass inserts and was a little bit heavier. Tried to find the cap but had no luck. Looking for any input?

I am a big believer in Merc parts in general. However, their distributor caps have not been one of my favorites. There are superior caps available. More corrosion resistance and heavier metal components are the biggest things. Merc probably has more than one cap for big blocks. The ones I had weren't too great though.

It's definitely worth looking for the best caps.
