How do gas prices affect your boating?

Does the price of gas affect how you boat? I have money set aside to buy gas with.

Madcow 03-27-2003 08:01 PM

I think gas is kinda like boats. If you hafta ask how much, you probably can't afford it.

Tantrum 03-27-2003 08:15 PM

When they go up it makes it expensive  It wont effect how I boat though, Im very partial to WOT.
I really hope they dont raise the prices at the bar
That would make for a very expensive summer

florida gator 03-27-2003 08:52 PM

I refuse to let this interfere with my "freedom" to have fun!

BadDog 03-27-2003 09:05 PM

WOT upriver and float back down.

Re: How do gas prices affect your boating?

Not.

BillR 03-28-2003 05:58 AM

It won't affect me at all.

Now I may ***** & complain. . . . . . .

Audiofn 03-28-2003 06:31 AM

I will probably actually get to burn up some gas this year before Labor day!!!!!! :D:D

Jon

CigDaze 03-28-2003 07:08 AM

Bitshing and moaning aside, no change.

HOTROD2 03-28-2003 07:08 AM

Summer is way to short here, I'll still cruise as much as always... got to love those credit cards!!!

Lucididee 03-28-2003 08:09 AM

Probably not that much.

But dropping the boat in for a quick cruise around the bay after work will probably not happen.

$300 to fill the tank ads up quickly.

frequentflyer 03-28-2003 08:21 AM

WOT even if I have to refinance my home. I refuse to slow down or compromise the quality or quantity of my alcoholic beverages..... :D:D:D

Frequency 03-28-2003 09:23 AM

Worrying about higher gas prices stresses me out. So I need to boat MORE often. :)

so Jim... How are those 3 bigblocks on your boat doing?:p

JUSTONCE 03-28-2003 10:40 AM

Boating season is so short I won't let anything ruin it. I expect alwasys to spend a ton every time I go out so whats a few more dollars.

madbouyz 03-28-2003 11:43 AM

At US $6.00 a gallon  you bet your @ss it affects how I boat !

CigDaze 03-28-2003 12:22 PM

Wow, 6 bucks! That's gonna leave a mark...

madbouyz 03-28-2003 01:00 PM

That's one of the reasons I had to figure out the 'rich burn' situation of the 502 MPI !Also a few other "affects"come to mind..
Like making sure the engine is always in top tune, the bottom is kept spotless (props too ),boat stays on a diet, you pick your course very carefully and you make sure that conditions are good enough that you will enjoy your day on the water. Also go if you are really in need of a mental boost ...this  and this.. :( become this :woohoo:

CigDaze 03-28-2003 01:05 PM

I can only imagine. Must be tough.

On average that's about 4X what I'd be paying. It would really cut into my boating time, I'm sure. I usually put about 100 hours on the boat in a season, going out 2-3 times a week. Forget that.
Anyway, I'm sure your motors are about as efficient as you can get.

Sea Ya 03-28-2003 01:27 PM

Down grade to Old Milwalkee so I can maintain WOT.

madbouyz 03-28-2003 01:33 PM

Whenever the topic of gas prices comes up,nearly everyone here will say that they would willingly pay whatever the highest rates in U.S. are ...$2.39 gal + ? ?
Nonetheless it does'nt make the situation any more palateable for you guys... what pisses me off is that it's not a situation where everyone here earns $150 grand a year and does'nt give a chit and can afford it :hothead:

Horseplay 03-28-2003 01:46 PM

All in all, gas is probably the cheapest part of high performance boating.

Gassticks 03-28-2003 02:21 PM

I'll spend a $120.00 on gas a weekend. and about $30.00 on boat soda's . It's all good !!!!. My stress level drops 20 points . till the next weekend and I do it all over again.

OBNOXUS21 03-28-2003 03:01 PM

I usually spend at least $200 on gas, but this summer I'll be right next to PC so things will be cheaper.
About the beer..... I always buy the two or 30 packs.

Oops I think I meant boat soda ;)

WOT going to PC and not when leaving ! It can get pretty hairy with all the boats leaving at once, so I like to be careful and let the "other" crazies floor it after drinking all day in the sun :) :) :)

mr_velocity 03-28-2003 03:30 PM

We don't stop and party so I'll spend $600 on a weekend in gas.

Taking the cover off the jet boat this weekend, great to have a "cheap" option.

29 OUTLAW 03-28-2003 03:31 PM

I would remain unaffected up to about $2.50 - $2.75 a gallon. Lucily we've never seen it that high where I'm at. Plus I keep mine on a trailer so I can buy at lower priced gas stations vs. marinas.

tripps 03-28-2003 05:57 PM

Lets see,100 gallons at 1.8=180.00 100 gallons at 2.3=230.00. lets see 100 gallons usually lasts me 3 weeks,so at that change its about 20 bucks more a weekend, and davem, get the good stuff!!!! :D :D :D tripps

Gassticks 03-28-2003 07:19 PM

Hey tripps,
100 gals last you 3 weeks ? what do you do idle around on one motor? with those three gas guzzlers on the back I'd think 100 gal would last you Oh about 45 minutes. ( ha ha )

Dave M 03-28-2003 08:26 PM

I think what Tripps meant to say is that he consumes 100 gallons of BEER every three weeks. :D

My boat isn't that bad on gas. I think I can cruise at about 50 mph on around 10-12 gallons per hour.

CAP071 03-28-2003 09:29 PM

I think this summer I may even take gas money from the women .

Shallow Hal  :fish:

kathycool 03-28-2003 09:31 PM

kitten 03-28-2003 10:28 PM

Me conserve? Never! Everyday is a blessing so I go full tilt. :chick: :chick: :chimp: :chick: :chick:

cuda 03-28-2003 10:56 PM

I agree with Horseplay. Gas is the cheapest thing I have to buy for the boat.

magnuman 03-29-2003 12:10 AM

I am not worried at all.

My boat is a hybrid!!

It runs on alcohol & gas!!!!!!:p :D :D

tripps 03-29-2003 07:41 PM

DaveM is right,i thought you guys were talking about BEER !!! :D :D :D :D :D tripps

HyperBaja 03-29-2003 08:18 PM

Wheres the choice "Mommy and Daddy cover that expense??? I dont worry and run it at WOT 6mi to the rope swing, then WOT for a while then come home.
