Thumbs up A quick update on my Dad.

The surgery went very well. They ended up doing a quad bypass. Hardly recognized him in the ICU after the 5 1/2 hour surgery. That was really tough (especially on my mom). About 7:00 last night they took him off the respirator and I got to talk to him (I just happened to be back there when they took the tube out). His first words to me were a smart ass joke!! That's my Dad!!! And he knew what day it was even. The nurse tells me (and I really like this lady....seems to really know what she's doing) he is doing really well. Sat up last night, dangled his feet over the bed, and even stood up for a minute. Today they tried to get him to walk, but the drugs have him pretty dizzy (morphine, wonderful stuff!!). So they are weaning him off that and onto something else to ease the dizzyness.

I'm off to see him now (to relieve my mother who's been there all day).

I want to thank ALL of you who have called, sent emails, and posted your thoughts on my earlier thread. VERY appreciated. It's like having a REALLY BIG family around here. You couldn't ask for anything more.

Thanks again on behalf of myself and my family.

Mike

I'm happy to hear that he is going to be okay. Now for a fast recovery.
