Not #6' and not B-Max, and not Imco 4x4's but it does have
Originally posted by Fever Mike The boat with 415hp per engine went 67. A 36 Baja is a deep V, no pad and heavy so to hit 80, 13 more mph it's gonna take 650 per engine. Some of the guesses where in the mid to high 80's which is 20 more mph so that's going to take mid 700 to 800 hp. Whatch out Bravo's! Where are the result's? Mike |
Drum roll please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D :D
Dyno still didn't show how much boost was on the engine. They are suppose to water test tomorrow. They will have 2 sets of props (30's and 32's). They will also be able to tell the boost on the water. ECMs are supposed to be in tomorrow. If no ECM's no water test. Survey says: |
So now that the dyno results are as good as they can get. Let's start all over!!
Now tell me how fast she will be :eureka:
MIKEHTMSR24 = 91 (I dropped two) |
Keith I hope I
transferred the data correctly. The fax sheet was like most fax sheets. Piss poor
|
That thing had good corrected H.P.//
Please put me down for 90 as it is a big boat with a good but slow bottom ,,,good I said They would be good in a 26' CAT ,wow May be to much timing but they must know what their doing it sure looks good ,,,,glad its not my BILL P.S. I waited 2 weeks on a pair of E C M'S last summer, hope he does not have to ,,,great going ,good luck |
Now tell me how fast she will be
MIKEHTMSR24 = 91 (I dropped two) CESSNA =90 Ps: remember who ever is the closest to the nearest tenth of a MPH. I know, I know GLH  |
Please explain the corrected hp to me. If anything, I thought it would be lower and is that the number we need to use.
|
Not totally sure on this
Corrected hp is correcting for things like sea level, Bar. pressure, temp., humidity.
What corrected hp does is level the playing field so it is apples to apples no matter where the engine is dynoed at. Like I say not totally sure on my answer. |
RIGHT ON MIKE :D Thats the best number to count on :D :D :D
|
I am going with 81.5!!!
|
I'll say 89
|
My estimate is 88.3 MPH on the GPS. Good luck on the Bravos. The weight of the hull, torque of the engines, combined with a conventional V-hull will put the upgraded Bravos to a test. Conventional V-Hulls on boats over 8000 pounds running over 700 HP are murder on Bravos. Good luck on the project.

I'm leaving for Keith's now
it's 4:23 pm EST
Keep the speed guesses going and I should be able to post Monday night if everything goes as planned:rolleyes: |
86.5 (2 more than last time)
|
UpDate
I'm at Keith's house now. We got in last night around 9.
Weather not looking too good in Charlotte today:mad: so we are water testing in Charlotte tomorrow. Let you all know more when we know more. |
the shop is, I think south east of
charlotte. Keith said it is about 15 minutes from the shop. Weather looks like shower early in the morning and ending around 9am:p
thanks Fever Mike for the safety reminder we should be back to keith's house late in the afternoon to post results (if they open them up). |
Keith just got a call

|
After all the anticipation, you better open them up!:D

stop the drum row
things just didn't go so well. It started out with rain as we were close to Charlotte.
It was a very muggy humid overcast day. No sunshine. It did stop raining though. We put about 50 gallons of racing fuel in the boat and headed to the lake. This was the first water test for the boat. The mechanic (Terry) couldn't make it. His mother had her second heart attack and he was with her in the hospital. Terry was nice enough to call us and talk to us a little at the hospital. Of course with all major face lifts their is going to be a few bugs crawl out of the cracks. We were well supported with a group of guys to help dial in the Baja. It was just too big of a hill to capture on the first water testing. They starting doing the inital tuning then we took the boat out. The ECM's were too rich. It didn't have the power and the mechanic said we needed to call it quits and send the ECM's back and reprogram them. They had turned the fuel pressure down to it's min. and the plugs were still running too rich. So we took the big beast back shop and we went back home empty handed. I pretty much new that their would be a good chance that we wouldn't be taking the boat home. I would like to say thanks to all of the people that came out on a Easter weekend for this first water test. It was a great effort on their part. Stay tuned. As I hear more I'll relay the news. I was impressed with the Whipple system. |
Who bet 0 MPH?
|
no goose eggs for me
I guess that is what we get trying to do it on Easter weekend. Nothing but bunny eggs:bunny:

|
I am sticking with my guess of 86.1 on GPS
|
Mike, What's the latest?
|
My guess is 89.4
|
I will guess 85 mph.
|
My Guesstimate is 87.8 on the good ol' GPS!
|
87.8 after the bugs are worked out.

Sorry for the delay news

They got a new dual pyrometer in and it didn't fix the problem. They found out that they had sent the wrong style of thermocouple wire with the kit.
Anyway the pryrometer is working and Keith is going to Charlotte in the morning to do more water testing. Everybody keep their fingers crosssed in hopes of the ECMs will be right. Maybe we will have a winner by the end of the week and we can put this contest to bed  Keith said he would call me tomorrow for an update. As soon as I hear anything I'll let you all know, Mike. |
BET they end up with 28 props a buddy of mine on lake cumberland has a 36 with 509's and 250 blowers and he settled on 28's 30's were to much for his battleship
