Name the only western where John Wayne "dies" in the movie.

Hint - It was his LAST movie.

You’re thinking of “The Cowboys” but there are actually 8 or 9. I’ll give you the tough one. In “The man who shot Liberty Valance” he is dead at the beginning and the whole movie is a flashback.

My favorite western has to be “Train Robbery", in case you all forgot John Wayne’s co-star ... a young Ann Margaret!

"The Outlaw Josey Wales"

"The Unforgiven"

Are two of my favorites, although anything with "The Duke" will be excellent also.

Not exactly in the genre, but nonetheless very entertaining was Dustin Hoffman in "Little Big Man".

It's a classic! I have the movie on VCR and the original sound track on CD. The music by Ennio Marricone is awsome! I have loved all of Clint's "spagetti western's" (i.e. filmed in Italy/Spain) since I was a kid. Eli Wallach played "The Ugly" known as "Tuco" in the movie----he played that part well and was such a dirty, sneaky scoundrel and he was especially funny while doing it. One of my favorite scenes in the movie with Tuco was when he had just made it in a small town from the hot desert and stumbled into the small gun shop searching for the perfect pistol and also how he was trying to befriend "Blondie" (The Good/Clint) to get the info out of him about the gold while Blondie was laying on a bed recovering from the death march in the desert---it was hilarious!

Lee Van Cleef played "The Bad" and----well, he was just plain MEAN!
