Is this the boat your refering to?
I think Sean Stinson may be able to shed some light on it for you |
Not that one...The one that ran against INXS-both had canopies...It also set a kilo record. thanks for the picture.

Yellow & black. Cmon you guys surely know Ohio Steel. It's been in everything.

I think there was a feature in a Hot Boat magazine a while ago but i cant remember which one. It was for sale for a while though Dick Simon Yacht Brokers but thats all I can remember. The reason the boat was name "NADA Chance" was becasue the new owner was the owner or worked for the NADA Guide. Its a nice looking boat now.

This is the Ohio Steel/NADA Chance/Gotta Chance/Never Satisfied as it is today running off the backside of Catalina Island.

think he means the canopied Ohio Steel....right??

The canopied Ohio Steel boat and the boat pictured above is the same boat. Don Christie (NADA Guide) purchased the race boat and spent a ton of money and time doing the full re-rig on the boat. Yes, Stinson would have a lot of info on this boat as the work was done at Dick Simon Marine where he used to work. Mr. Christie intended it for use a a poker run/pleasure boat and had a stand up bolster set up installed. He named the boat Nada Chance and changed the blanck/yellow paint scheme. He later "donated" the boat and Dick Simon Marine again had the boat for sale on their lot. I'm not sure who is the owner now.

I was of the impression that the nada chance boat was the original Ohio Steel boat that was based on the 42 fountain and was always a open cockpit boat, and the boat cowisl was refering to was the 2nd Ohio steel boat which was a closed cockpit canopied 45 and they both were yellow and black with the name Ohio Steel down the side.

If you are talking about the original black & yellow Fountain that Patrick Patel bought from John Reban, it was painted purple, yellow and green and called "Barney". It was raced for 2 seasons by Patrick, Doug Lewis and Kristen Scibetta. We sold to someone in California several years ago. I believe it has since been repainted, thanks goodness!
