I had a similar problem with someone the west coast.
Bought a new drive for him. He said he's got a deal for me on shipping. He had bought a drive from someone here on the east coast. Only 1 1/2 hour ride each way from here. The sell didn't want anything to do with shipping so he would have had to make arrangement's for a shipper to pick it up at the sellers house, crate it, and ship it. He told me they wanted over $600 to do this.
So the deal was he would ship me my drive for free if I would pick up and crate his B-Max and drop it at the shipper. The shipper gets paid buy money order only. It was only $149 but I never got reimbursed. Seemed like a nice guy. He even told me that he was going to send a set of stainless tip that needed to be polished.
Never got them either.
Came across a post the other day and saw his e-mail address.
Sent him a PM asking what happened to the tips he "already sent".. Didn't get a reply.
This guy turned me on to OSO, and i thank him for that.
I've met a lot of good people here.
I have bought a lot of other parts here with out problems.

Some low life owing money IS a legal problem. If he has money to file for libel he should pay Jon. Then again if he files we will know is address and can deal with him...

We also have a problem with someone owing us money... Agreed to pay, never paid. Took it to court, Judge decided they legally ouw it to us. Never paid. Tried to seize assets, nothing is in this persons name, all in spouses name (vehicles, house, bank accts, credit cards) So, all we can do is put a lean on their vehice, or wait till they die, then try to collect what they owe us from their life insurance.

It is my understanding that any assets in a spouse's name are still seizable. Check with a competant attorney. When I seized the assets of another board member, the account was in her name I believe. Not 100% on this but DEFINITELY look into it. So Jon...WHO IS IT?!

I would ruin his ass on OSO, no question. He will end up screwing someone else if not. You lost $750. With all of the members on here, and the way that word travels, he'll be bankrupt in no time. It may sound harsh but thats what happens when you f-ck the wrong people.

Jon, sorry you are having the problem. You are in a tight spot with the posting of the name, that could cause you trouble. However, those of us out here on the left coast would appreciate knowing who to watch out for. Maybe there is another way.

Go the judgment route...once it is on the credit report it will be very hard to obtain credit from someone else....if this person tries to buy a home it will HAVE to be paid or they are SOL. I know, I am a Mortgage person and we will not let it slide...even if it was medical. This will also lower the credit score so hit him where it hurts and make this a glaring problem for life, it will NEVER come off until it is paid and will allow you to garnish wages. These are all very embarrassing things and will haunt them forever or until it is paid. You could also NAME NAMES.:D and we can shame this person into paying. :D By the way I am in Boston for the week if you are up for anything (4/14 - 4/18)

Exactly what sort of trouble do you guys think one could get into by posting a name here? Its not slander and its not libel. Just a notification of a true situation, just like the newspapers that post arrests. They aren't condemming the person, just stating a situation that the person was involved in.

There are too many scumbags out there screwing honest people, its about time we everyone started exposing these idiots instead of trying to be nice or politically correct. How nice can it be when they are out of business? The guy stole from somebody, no more no less! He's a thief!

Dont waste time do it now Hell I get pissed over my money the general can cross state lines takes time but it is your tax dollers at work give it a try. I did this on a boat deal gone bad a broker set up a deal on a 90 mph cat it ran 69 after a 1200 mile drive in a 454 truck I was not a happy camper. Then the boat tossed a rod then the broker cut me a hot cheque for the ernest money. Federal offence meet me in my state LOOSER! Sorry for your misfortune. I'm really shocked that this member did this to you. I remember you working your A$$ of on his install. From his posts he seemed like a great guy. Maybe something has happened and he has fallen on bad times. I wish people would just level with you instead of avoiding you. I know quite a few of my business owners have really been hurting the last two quarters. Some have been operating at a loss for 4-5 months. I work with them the best I can as long as they level with me. I'm getting sick of making special trips to get paid to find that the owners don't even show up.:mad:

If you can't get this reconciled give me a call and I'll let you in on a way to get the IRS to collect the funds from him. The funds are considered unpaid taxes. You don't want to do this unless there is no other option or you want to get even. It will become very nasty for him if you file the papers.
