I dont think anyone is going to make Bill Gates look like an impoverished child any time soon.

With inflation $800 in the year 2256 would be worth about as much as the lint in your pocket. He must be nuts to go on a trip like that with such little cash.

"The only way he could pull it off is with illegal inside information. He's going to sit in a jail cell on Rikers Island until he agrees to give up his sources."

From a chat board:

The story is either bogus or true, but if he is a real person then he dd not take advantage of insider trading. There is no way that someone could possibly have that much inside information on "breaking news" within a period of 2 weeks. But hypothetically it wouldnt be hard to do... not taking taxes into consideration all you would have to do is make 117 consecutive trades averaging 11.5% per trade and you will have over 350,000,000. Of course after short term capital gains of 39% you are left over with 213,000,000. Then if you stuck that in tax free municipal bonds at 4%, you will have 8.5 million in tax free income a year for the rest of your life without touching the principle.
