LLC news release questions
This was posted on the news group rec.boats.racing.power it has some good questions that should be addressed I did not post them but my questions are the same. I would have posted under Mike A's post but can no longer access it any longer. Iam a member of APBA but not in the Offshore catagory and as a member I feel this conserns me and all fellow members of APBA.
Thanks for your time. Grin & Barrett Subject: Re: APBA Offshore, LLC Chairman's Response to "Report" From: [email protected] (MMaus1976) Date: 4/21/03 4:28 PM Pacific Daylight Time Message-id: <[email protected]> I am looking at this report and see a few things out of order. Could you please respond so the membership can better understand what is going on. First you named past association members to the Super board, Rick Sandstrom, Mike Jones, Greg Jacobsen and a few more. You talk about the "Old Guard" but yet you have the Old Guard in the Super Board. These are the ones you refer to that have been operating in serect. You stated, "No one needs to look any futher than the 2002 budget with Tremendous Waste", where in fact Mike Jones and Greg Jacobsen were in power at the time and the report was generated based on their performance. It was them that controlled APBA and they are on YOUR BOARD so lets get them to respond about the waste. Now lets get to the FACTS section in your letter. Is it not true that in your contract with APBA there is a 3%increase each year for annual fees. You signed it. It is in the contract, why can't they charge you for the increase? As far as SEA-TAC, let the courts decide and lets move on. You write $65,000 in Director Liability Ins. As to the 2002 report that you refer to, you can see APBA spent $14,765.00 not $65,000. Now to Sanction fees . You fail to mention that the Sanction fees have been the same +/- 10% since Gene was chairman and the only person that changed ALL FEES in APBA was Greg Jacobsen, who is also on your board. Why don't we get Jake to respond. You fail to say YOU increased the membership fees by $50.00 to go to you not HQ. Lets get to the Insurance. You make it your big hit. In 1999 APBA Offshore, under then chair Gene Whipp, was paying $11,500 for $5,000,000 coverage for a 3 day event, now you pay in 2002 for the same coverage- $10,700. According to my math you are paying LESS than it was 5 years ago????????? As for your contract, was it not worked out in private ( OLD GUARDS) with the same 2 men that are on your board. You keep talking about the past leaders and they are in your group now. What does that say about your letter. Hearn did not take over from Jones until Oct 31, 2002. Finally, as far as Brain H stating a few weeks ago that things were a complete mess before MA took over. Mr H., Gene Whipp was the most respected chairman for APBA ever- and you disgracing the work he has done for Offshore blows me away. He has turned over in his grave over the past few years seeing what has become of all of his work. You have not been in racing long enough to even make a comment about how things were or how they are going to be. |
I think maybe OSO should have a category just for APBA and SBI talk. I can't view the other thread either, the one was removed.

figures
That post is from Mark Maus the inspector that was fired or not rehired by APBA Offshore LLC. Another disgruntled employee. Most OSO Members have no idea what went on before the LLC took over. You could weigh in 10 lbs light and you'd get away with it , you could have a 6000 rev limiter , etc. I'd also be racing 90 mph factory 1 boats. Times have changed folks , get used to it! BH

cronies
Grin&BARE IT :
Why don't you tell us your name? You register on OSO to give APBA Offshore LLC a hard time. You have lot's to learn about being a member here. BH |
Joker,
My name is Matthew Barrett I am a member of APBA currently in the OPC category. I joined this web sight to try and get both sides of the story. I appreciate haveing a web sight that will allow the airing of different opinions. After reading both APBA and Mike's "Reports" I had some questions It just so happened that this MMaus posted most of them before I could. I have not said anything against Offshore we are all racers we just race different boats but we're still one family maybe not a happy one right know but with discussion comes ideas and hopefully solutions. Since I went to Detroit and was present at some of the meetings that are in question and since Mike A was not there, I am asking some questions now. I have never met Mike and don't claim to now his agenda. But as an APBA member I think it is my right to ask. Thank you for your input Grin & Barrett |
Matthew:
Glad to see you posted your name. That is the first start to secure credibility here on OSO. Remember we are a offshore power boat / high performance web site. There are lot's of cronies that come on here to do nothing more than take a jab at others. Let's let Offshore do their thing and we'll see the truth come out - Brian Hollis APBA Offshore Member # 3977 |
Brian,
That is why I'm here, to find out from all conserned what is happening and hopefully why. I am also trying to learn more about Offshore so when I get to watch I will understand it a little more. Thanks again for your input Matthew |
Grin, Welcome to the OSO board. You have past the credibility test.
Some others need to learn from you. |

I am still learning myself and am prone to mistakes so hopefully I can contribute something of interest in my time here. During the summer I will be attending the races on the APR Superleague tour if anyone would like to come watch you can get the schedule on their web sight. Also if I'm able I would like to come to the Milwaukee Offshore race if I can. Matthew :D |
