Tim,
Good point. This is not something the Marine Police want to do. The are being forced to do it. The guys in blue have proven that the are a friend of the performance boaters and racers in our area and should be treated with respect at all times. PLEASE don't give them a hard time for doing their job. |
thats what your gun is for, LOL, damn noisy kids anyway.

On the other side of the coin is the fact that you can go faster quietly . How , you say:confused: Simple , you don't attract as much attention to yourself.
Right Troutly? I'll bet your ears perk up like a cat when it heres a bird any time you hear something winding up going down the road:cool: This may be a little far fetched , but you could go by someones dock @ 80 mph quietly and they wouldn't even look up from the TV. Of course by the time they did look up you'd be gone. Whereas you idle by with t / 900sc's and open exhaust and people will be outside shaking their fists at you:p Just a thought:cool: |
Originally posted by mopower On the other side of the coil is the fact that you can go faster quietly . We have a Turbine here and at some meetings it was his boat they were saying was making all the noise and was racing down the bay at 200 mph. I had to laugh...:D These people just don't know what they are watching. That boat can sneak up on you at 150-200 mph and you would never even know it. All you see is alot of water flying...:D :D :D and hear nothing.... |
I watched a turbine cat on The Chesapeake last year near Turkey Point light house. I saw his roostertail before I could see the boat:eek: . If this guy wasn't doing 100 mph , he wasn't doing nuthin:p . Couldn't hear a rumble of BB's , couldn't hear the whine of OB's. He was going through rather heavy traffic rather scarily(such a word?), anyway , if you were on the beach with your back to the water you'da never noticed:cool:
Wasn't till about a week later I heard of a turbine cat in the area and then figured out why I couldn't hear it:D :D . |

PROTEST CIGARETTE BOAT NOISE NJ BOAT REGULATION COMMISSION MEETING Wed., July 9, @ 10 AM at the BAY HEAD YACHT CLUB This is your chance to impress the New Jersey Boat Regulation Commission with the inadequate job they are doing of controlling noisy and dangerous powerboats. This is a public meeting. BRING ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS! Because you own something other than a Cig. don't assume you are exempt...:D These people are coming after anyone with a performance boat. Because they singled out Cigarette, could that be defamation??? Cigarette has been notified and aware....;) WE WILL NEED AS MANY POWERBOATERS, ENGINE BUILDERS AND BOAT MANUFACTURERS AS POSSIBLE TO ATTEND THIS MEETING. If you cannot make the meeting and have some helpful information and data to fight off these people, please forward it to: John H. Shanahan, Jr. Member, NJ Boat Regulation Commission c/o Boating Safety Institute of America Post Office Box 46 Maywood, NJ 07607-0046 Telephone: 800-237-1708 On the Web: BoatSafety.org |
Meeting Location Changed for July 9th
To All Interested Parties:
This note will advise that the location has changed for the July meeting of the NJ Boat Regulation Commission scheduled for Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 10:00 am. The meeting will take place in Sea Girt at the NJ Militia Museum meeting room, located on the grounds of the NJ State Police Training Academy. I have not seen an agenda for the meeting, but understand that there will be presentations to the Commission on powerboat noise control and on the placement of "slow/no wake" buoys in certain areas of Barnegat Bay. The Commission will continue its review of NJSA 12:7, the State's Marine Laws, and review comments received on proposed amendments to NJAC 13:61 et.seq., the administrative regulations governing boating in New Jersey. Please give this notice of change in location the widest possible distribution. Thank you. John H.
