I have run all but one of the Potomac river poker run's that Kevin put on and never had a problem with any drunks hitting my boat. Kevin had problems with the lunch/card stop, they weren't ready to make that much food. With Tim doing this run I would tend to think it will be more organized. Tim is talking about getting it a on video and magazine coverage trying to make it a big deal like the New York run. I havn't talked to him in awhile but there was talk of Poker run's of America sponsoring it.

I have yet to be anywhere on a boat much less a poker run where people arn't drinking you just have to lookout and be smart. But I guess with all the poker runs on the Potomac every year you can take your pick.

It just seems to me that are one and only run on the river everybody would want to go if their boat wasn't broke. I just like the chance to run hard with a bunch of people you don't get to do that to much, but maybe that's just the ex-racer in me.

I'am not against a OSO run either if somebody want's to pony up and make it happen but it's not easy. I was going to sign up for the SML run but I have a 42 now and hope to have my 47 by then, everybody said I would have trouble getting the 42 on and off the trailer much less a 47, plus with all the talk of noise and speed ticket's I would stand out like a sore thumb. I know a Poker run is not a race but I like to run WFO at least the first leg, and on the Potomac I have never been ticketed for anything.

Be sure and take a look at coming to our Poker Run the first weekend in August which is part of a multi-faceted boating event. It includes the charter event which is the Sailboat Regatta that started it all and later the Chesapeake Bay Poker Run was added and the HRPA took over it's organization last year doubling participation and probably will double again.

The run includes TWO classes of poker runners with two separate courses. The performance course is aggressive and covers approx. 100 miles of multi-types of water. There will be 5 prizes ranging from $1k for top hand to $100 for 5th best. The CRUISER/FAMILY class will be running a shorter less aggressive course and will include cruisers and small family runabout types. This ensures recreational boaters of all kinds get to play and hang out. None of the above types will get in each others way either. There's plenty of water to go around for both.

It's THE ONLY multi-boater event on the east coast (maybe nation) known.

Oh did I mention the first annual fishing tournament has been included this year completing the big three of boating enthusiasts.

This event will include TWO party's with TWO top local bands with food included and beverages for sale. First party is Friday night (Aug 1st) which includes captains meeting and saturday night (Aug 2nd) for post run rewards and entertainment. This year we've added a Margarita style Tiki-bar to hang out at between the post-run period and the party start at the marina.

Here's the kicker........This year's entrance fee is only $150 which includes one hand, 4-shirts, 4-lunches, and 4-entry's to the party's. And finally......ALL proceeds go to the St. Judes Children's Research Hospital for Cancer with only approximately 6-10% overhead.

For more info/registration see www.littlecreekregatta.org or go to our club website for a link.

For other details see the post in the poker run discussion forum...

I think Tim's is having two runs this year. The first one is Kevin's deal or similar, and the second is called the Hot Boat Challenge sponsored by Hot Boat. On Tim's website they have the first one listed on June 16th which is a Monday. I e-mailed them and I think supposed to be on the 14th. I did Kevin's run last year and beside being a little unorganized, we had fun....

On another note, we need to have an OSO raftup sometime, maybe at Fairview one Saturday.......If the weather would cooperate....... Who's in?
