Howard, the best thing to do is stay at a hotel/condo that offers docks. There are plenty of them on the lake. I'm staying at Bernards Landing - they have a usable ramp for my 35' and plenty of slips.

I see the "1" in your avatar - what type Cig do you have?

Howard,

We stay at Bernards and used their ramp and docks. We put the boat away before dark, clean up and drive back to Bridgewater Plaza for food and drink.

I ordered a lake map from Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce and it arrived in less than a week. It is the size of a state map and will make the run easier to navigate. I hear you can get them at the visitor center and some of the marinas.

rbtnt, we are staying in the exact same condo at Bernard's as last year. Only difference is this year I have a much better companion. Look forward to seeing you, and have a safe trip down.

Howard, it will be nice having another Cig there this year. The ramp is a little tight, but usable. You have to drive on their grass a little to get a good angle at the ramp..

Brain, I hope we don't have to wear those coats again this year.

No doubt Steve. CheckmateF1 told me last night the weather sucked there for the past TWO years, but I am not giving up. I only experienced the really bad one last year. 59*, 30 knot winds, and rain that stung when it hit you. I know some folks that bowed out this year, and I can't say I blame them, but I really hope for the best. It is calling for rain nearly every day between now and that Friday. Mother Nature better have it out of her system by the 16th.

Andy Anderson was actually going to make the run last year, with his refurbed Top Gun; big power, and VIs. He actually went back to NoVa to go to Agressor 25's wedding. I would have probably done the same thing had my Dad not flown into town.
