How in the hell am I supposed to finish commisioning the boat and getting ready for the SML Poker Run starting on the 16th?

LapseofReason 05-07-2003 09:22 AM

with a rain jacket on.

R Addiction 05-07-2003 09:28 AM

Sydwayz, I work on saturday this week and I get a day off during the week guess what day that I ended up with? THURSDAY!!!! The best day out of the lot!! I'll be at the marina at 7AM tomorrow. You're starting to get the 1 day flu aren't you?:D

Sydwayz 05-07-2003 09:41 AM

Well, I have no tach, as it went bad and is at Faria. I also took the dash apart last night to install a GPS. I am rewiring a few of my accesories, and adding power outlets in the cabin for fans. I don't know if I can play hookie tomorrow, and was kinda hoping to go to Lake Anna this weekend for the first shakedown of the boat and refurbed trailer running gear.

LapseofReason 05-07-2003 09:56 AM

Brian, I will be working on two or three boat's at the house this weekend if you want to do your shake down on the river, if you need a spot to tie up or tool's to use I have more than you would know what to do with. I also have a private ramp about 200 yards from my house.

Sydwayz 05-07-2003 10:30 AM

Greg, Thank you for the offer. I may take you up on that. Can you PM me your number again please?

VelocityMark 05-07-2003 10:44 AM

That looks like the same weather as last year's poker run except it was colder!:p

rbtnt 05-07-2003 09:14 PM

We got to go swimming on Friday last year.

The first mate received a 12V electric blanket for Christmas so she could stay out in the cockpit with me in dry cold weather. I better pack my camper top in case it rains.

bucky 05-08-2003 06:20 AM

Weather forecasts; the only job where you can be wrong 70% of the time and not get fired.

LapseofReason 05-08-2003 06:24 AM

No you forgot Doctor.

Shah Mat 05-08-2003 06:31 AM

Damn weather.....I'll be out on Sat for sure. Face mask and rain coat if I have to. Will anyone else be out there?

Lapse, where is your house? What boat do you have?

LapseofReason 05-08-2003 06:51 AM

I am right inside Aquia Creek, where Hope Springs Marina is. Come in the creek when you go past marker #12 it opens up to a big cove on the right, I am 4th or 5th house down on the right. It's a big whith house with a red roof you can't miss it, no other house around mine looks the same. I have the longest dock and are one of the few without a boat house. I have a 16 foot skiff that might be in the water but the 42 Sonic will still be in the driveway. There may be a 31 red and white Scarab with a arch and a 26 foot Wellcraft cruiser at the dock depending when you come buy. Where do you put in at ?

Shah Mat 05-08-2003 09:53 AM

Are you near Billy Millison's house? (sp) I put in at Fairview. Hope Springs is the same distance from my house, but with Fairview, there's no no-wake zone to go through. Will you be out this Sat?

LapseofReason 05-08-2003 10:05 AM

His house is on the other side of the creek, I am on the north side. near the mouth about a 1/2-3/4 of a mile from the no wake zone. He is realy right across from me but it's about a mile. I will be at the house working on boats and drinking beer. I might get out later but not on my boat.

Shah Mat 05-08-2003 10:33 AM

Mind if I stop by? I'll bring beer. It would be cool to meet some fellow OSOer's.

Sydwayz 05-08-2003 10:46 AM

MOTHER FUD-PUCKER!!!! I got a damn fortune worth of brand new boat carpet in the garage that I cannot even test fit because it is raining again!!!!! DAMN. I got low water pickups. I am considering running the boat around the 6 inch puddle that goes around the curb in my cul-de-sac. My prop is already dinged up, so no damage there. I will just leave the boat on the trailer for less friction.

:hothead: :hothead: :hothead:

LapseofReason 05-08-2003 10:48 AM

Go right ahead, hit me up on my cell @703-362-8011 and I'll make sure I'm at the dock to help you dock. my name is Greg. What are you going to be in and what color is it ?

LapseofReason 05-08-2003 10:50 AM

Sunny and nice in Stafford, going over to put the skiff in now to show my kid how to drive.

C_Spray 05-08-2003 11:01 AM

The Admiral drove 70 miles to work on the boat today since it was supposed to be "the nice day" of the week.

It's raining. :( :hothead:

Shah Mat 05-08-2003 12:22 PM

Thanks Lapse

I'm in a yellow, black and white Checkmate 25' I'll give you a call. If you head out and haven't seen me, give me a call. 703-447-3453
Joey

R Addiction 05-08-2003 11:25 PM

Chuck , I saw the admiral down at the marina today. I don't think a whole lot got done considering the weather. I got the seawater pump done and installed that then fired it up, in the rain!! Got alot more work done, so now it's time to detail!!!
Here's what it was like when I got there:

R Addiction 05-08-2003 11:28 PM

So I set up the tent:p and got to work!!!

R Addiction 05-08-2003 11:30 PM

Then as I was getting ready to go, out comes the sun!!!

R Addiction 05-08-2003 11:32 PM

Here's the sun

R Addiction 05-08-2003 11:36 PM

Sorry! Here it is:

Sydwayz 05-09-2003 11:09 AM

Hey, GUESS WHAT!!! Its raining again. I worked my tail off this week to play hookie this afternoon and finish getting the boat ready. I had 2 hours of dry daylight yesterday, which was just enough time to mow the grass, (it was 9-10 inches high), and open the boat up quickly to test fit my new carpeting. I am really starting to get disappointed here. I can't wait to have a pole barn.

Shah Mat 05-09-2003 11:22 AM

IF

If we pool our boats together and sell them, how big of a yacht can we get? Then we wouldn't have to worry about the weather...

Sydwayz 05-09-2003 11:40 AM

LOL, no doubt.

We just had two lightning strikes within 5 minutes. They clashed so hard; the windows and doors rattled, things fell off the walls, and the house is still creaking. They were huge. Lit up the outside like a nuke hit.

klmken 05-09-2003 07:41 PM

Don't feel too bad boys. My engine is still in parts on the garage floor. Good thing is I am working for Freedom Boat Club out of Woodbridge and Washington Marina so I can borrow a boat from time to time......no go fast though:mad:
Ken

Love Machine 05-09-2003 09:48 PM

Your not gunna let a couple sprinkles stop ya?? :)

I'm taking the mom's out Saturday to Stoney's for an early mom's day present. Hope the storms hold off till we're done.

klmken 05-09-2003 10:36 PM

Love Machine,
Are you on the potomac? What boat are you running?
Ken

Mate 229 05-10-2003 01:20 PM

Now I know why the guy I bought the Fountain from now owns a Sea Ray with canvas enclosed helm. Stops raining, I go outside and the damn thunderstorms start up again. I'm moving back to Florida at least you know the storms will come up in afternoon and be gone in 1/2 hour.

45sonic 05-10-2003 04:04 PM

Hey at least you have a boat to work on. One is a total loss and the other is waiting on an engine rebuild and a new trailer to arrive. We are supposed to do the Lake Norman on the 18th of May Not sure we will make it in time.

Got to spend money elsewhere to keep ourselves busy while we are down. I'll post pictures of our homeowner project for this weekend.

Shah Mat 05-12-2003 07:12 AM

Hey Laspse, were you up in Goergetown on Sat? I saw a big Sonic there. I tried to call your cell to see if it was you, but one of us had a bad signal.

Sydwayz 05-12-2003 07:24 AM

Sunday was actually beautiful. We were told to expect so much rain to expect flooding. Good news I finally finished the boat. I think I heard a miss while on the hose, which I bet the distributor needs cleaned and dried. I may finally make the water this week.

LapseofReason 05-12-2003 07:29 AM

No it wasn't me, I havn't even had time to pull the cover's of my boat yet.

Sydwayz 05-12-2003 07:32 AM

It could have been 'Thesonic28', Jimi, who now has a 42; or Offshore Score, who has a big blue 45, but he normally does not go that far north. Costs him a damn fortune with trip 500EFI.

45sonic 05-12-2003 09:40 AM

If it was an older Sonic - black, gray, and white with an arch - it was Jack (boat name Shameless). He docks at Gang Plank Marina and just about lives at the Wall.

LapseofReason 05-12-2003 10:07 AM

Yep everytime I have been there he is there. It's like an 88 41ss with the big tall bow rail and fender holder's right ?

45sonic 05-12-2003 10:25 AM

Yes, that is him - but it is an SE not SS (he would be sure to correct you). I had the twin to his (but mine had a little red added) hence the name Doubletake.
