I know how you feel. My father always end's up visiting us the SUMMER holidays and stays for 2 weekends. We don't change our plans, just kinda alter them. But it does put a damper on all original plans.
Why do they always think that just because it's a Holiday weekend, it means it's okay to visit us.....um.......we do make plans when we have that xtra time off of work too.

I feel pretty lucky,Karen's parents are our next door neighbors. I sold them the lake lot 20 years ago,that's how I met her.They are great people. We don't socialize a lot,but our relationship is great when we do. They don't drink and I respect that so I drink their tea when we are next door, when they are over here I drink my rum and coke and I guess they understand. He cuts my grass,rakes the leaves,sweeps the deck, cause he is retired and likes to stay busy but won't let me pay him. Yesterday he washed my truck cause he was bored,what a great in-law.Just wanted to share this,hope that's ok.

Daze, I decided that come November 1st, I will be visiting you for the 4 months of winter.
As for family saying they are staying there? I wont be home all weekend, I will be on the lake
