Nothing says "The 80's"

quite like a Gucci Edition 37 Aronow - time to dig out those pastel suits and loafers and run the Don Johnson 5 o'clock shadow electric razor over your face, then hit the water! :D

dockrocker 05-13-2003 10:02 AM

It's actually a pretty slick looking boat - anyone know the history of these boats? I dont' remember reading about them in "The King of Thunderboat Row" - I'm assuming that Don built these during one of his times away from Cigarette?

Jeff 05-13-2003 10:28 AM

and it's got a Gucci purse price tag. Bet it will take a beating in the rough.

Sean 05-13-2003 10:38 AM

There weren't many built...I've seen one other 37 and it was here on Long Island and was red...pretty cool boat.

There's a 45 and a 47 at Falcon now and the 47 looks like an overgrown Midnight Express---hey Bing! It being completelyu refitted and has a pair of big ole diesels and Arneson drives.

The 45 is for sale and has triples---it's all white and just arrived from Florida...i've got to get you guys some pics of this bad boy...the lines are exactly like the Gucci pictured above.

riskybusiness 05-13-2003 10:49 AM

I had the privelege of viewing that Gucci boat up close & personal---climbed into the cabin, etc.

A gorgeous boat, but some of the gawdiest color schemes you'll ever see. I must admit, the 14kt gold hardware fixtures blended well with the rest of the colors!:D

dockrocker 05-13-2003 11:53 AM

riskybusiness,

Funny you should say that, I thought - in the pictures at least - that the interior looked surprisingly modern. Beige / black is a pretty smooth combination.

Of course, pictures don't always tell the full story.... ;)

CigDaze 05-13-2003 11:59 AM

It might make a perfect boat for someone in Joisey...:p:D:p:D
Sorry guys...Just Kidding.

That 47 is at our marina it has a huge set of props. It needs some t.l.c. What speeds did it run?

LOL! So true about the eighties!

If that is a 1990 model then Don didn't build it. He was killed on Feb 3 1987. :( The day.........the muuuuuuusic died.

Sean 05-13-2003 01:30 PM

baja27,

what 47 are you referring to? I think the only other one is in Wisconsin...

Chart 05-13-2003 01:43 PM

Is that Miss Amy in the pictures?!!:D

dockrocker 05-13-2003 01:52 PM

The thing that really kills me about this deal, is that there are two guys who look old enough to collect Social Security in the bolsters, and some hardbody chica posing for the camera.

Awful nice of that girl to go for a boat ride with her "uncles" ;)

CigDaze 05-13-2003 01:53 PM

LOL Dock! I noticed that, too :D

GLH 05-13-2003 01:54 PM

Her abs kill me

dockrocker 05-13-2003 02:18 PM

Mrs DR has deemed it UGLY!!, not once, but twice. No Aronow for me... :( ;)

Of course, since Don was years dead when this boat was built, you have to question if it is an Aronow in anything more than name...

baja27 05-15-2003 08:16 AM

Sean there is one at our marine here in PA it's a 90 . It has diesels and surface drives AND GRAY IN COLOR. Pretty mean looking boat.

American Xtreme 05-15-2003 09:58 AM

Speaking of the 80's............. How 'bout the old fire engine red Fountain ICBM's with the gold trim? Don't see many, but when I do, they don't look like a timeless design. Anybody got pictures?

dockrocker 05-15-2003 10:04 AM

I think there's one for sale down LOTO way...

Budman 05-15-2003 10:40 AM

Ugly?

Hell, I'd take it. Personally, I like the beige - a little different, probably don't notice the yellow scum lines as much! :D

I'd take her too! (if I wasn't already happily married! )

DR - The model in the picture might have something to do with your CFO thinking it's "ugly"!!

Sonic30ss 05-15-2003 01:06 PM

There's one of those ICBMs running around CT river and shore, it's a real eye catcher.......

American Xtreme 05-15-2003 01:13 PM

I sold one in 1984 when I worked for Trenton Marine. Then, all of a sudden, EVERYTHING was white with graphics.

I love those old, all red ICBM'S. I think they are
hot looking boats. I'll bet colored boats will be
back in style real soon and white with graphics
will be old hat!
