Dammmagnum:
There is a very sad looking hull with the name "Plum Crazy" on the side, sitting in a boat yard next to Miami airport.
There used to be a race boat with the same name, run by the Ballasch brothers from somewhere in PA, but I believe their boat was a Manta.

The 28 Magnum was built by Mr Harry Schoell (the ole Master)also he built a 23 Magnum that was built out of a Mica faced mold.that I believe was for Doctor Magoon.

That 23 was also popped for a whole host of 24 footers still being sold today under a bunch of names.

The first 28 foot Cigarette mold "stuck" and was sunk behind Cigarette it was Bobby Saccenti who as a matter of fact paddled the sinking mold out in the channel (they Hole sawed the thing)

It should still be there to this day.

Sounds like they are solid built boats and will be around for some time still.

When I rebuilt The Vixen I wasnt trying to make her into a show boat.I knew that I had a good solid hull and deck and all the wood was in good shape, and that between racing, hauling her all over and changing different engine combos.she was going to get banged up some.At the end of race season the engine and drive get pulled and replaced with a 502 525 i keep just for her,and now she is my pleasure boat for the winter. When I get to old f or all this fun I look forward to redoing her one more time so she can look like some of the great Magnumms of the past too.Its seems strange taulking about a piece of glass and wood like its human but I really think this old gal has a spirit all her own, like all the great Magnums of the past. Lil Rino was not a Magnum, I belive it was a Mirage. The boat was sold to a guy in Jersey, raced a few times in the early 1980's, have not seen it since.
