By 1964 or so.....other hulls were beginning to come close.....but you have to admire the guy for braving the unknown...at truly fatal speeds.
The only actual fatality I know of in a wing design occurred in copies made by DeSilva boats in California...... for OMC. I think two disintegrated..... at least one at Havasu.
