OT: The baddest 69 Camaro
1 Attachment(s)
I know this car has been around a LONG time but I still think it's one of the baddest.
It held the Silver State Classic open road race record for years until they shortened the course and the record became null. RJ at 19yrs old averaged 199mph over a 91 mile stretch of freeway (2 lane) with a top speed of 223mph. And this freeway is not all straights. Nothing like 223mph brick ! |
Awesome! Talk about a thrill ride.
|
I remember reading about it in Hot Rod. One of the writers went on a run with him. What a rush that must be.
I heard RJ put it away and hasn't pulled it out since. |
I heard the car was on display in a casino in Laughlin Nevada.
If I win the Loto I want it ! It would be fun chasing down , Porche's and Ferrari's !:D |
I remember reading that 69 Camaro passed a Ferrari Testarossa in the Silver State. The Ferrari was going approx 180.
The camaro would not be the best road course car, but, for the silver state challenge it is amost perfect. |
I was looking at some pictures of it and the harmonic balancer is even with the C/L of the front tires. Talk about engine set back !
Vtec, Just imagine messing with kids on crotch rockets on 696 ! |
i know this car!!!!!
believe it or not but i know this car!!!!! i also read about this car in hot-rod magazine long time ago. it writes: raceway on top front windshield (where you cant read from the above pic ;) ) |
That certainly is a sweet car. I read about it after it set the record. I guess it was in Hot Rod. Brings back memories of me wanting to do that race one of these days...
|
I have the video of the Silver State Classic where they first raced this car. It won overall.
That same year a Testarossa wrecked and killed the two in it. I'll have to dig that video up and watch on the next rainy day. Pretty cool stuff. |
I think i still have the hot rod issue where they did a writeup of it after the silver state run and on his way home RJ got nabbed by the cops.....the ticket.......222mph!!!!
