I would take the B18 over any B16 any day. So much more torque...The B16 dosent have enough stroke to make much power from a turbo. My friend has a Civic, litte done to it, bought a 98 Integra, did a few things to it, then was on his way to a shop to order some goodies, turbo, pistons, rods, clutch, axles, etc, which would have gotten him around 360hp. Not bad for a little 1.8L eh? On his way there someone ran a red light and totaled his car.

I'm not much of a Miata fan. Not very versatile. Too small. No matter what is under the hood, everybody knows they're NOT supposed top have any power - you'll only get a charge out of it if you race people. Ticket city.
You're better off (at your age) with a car that handles, has good room, and runs decent. Then you can add the green washer nozzle lights and spooky neon on the inside. You don't really NEED a sleeper race car.
Hatchbacks are the Swiss Army Knife of cars. Look okay, can haul all your stuff, makes a nice makeout pit for chicks.
Get something you can at least get your girlfriend into a reclined position in...
