New guy needs some info.

First of all, I've been kinda watching this board for a couple of weeks after some friends of mine from Lake Monroe turned me on to it.
Right now I have a 34 Wellcraft cruiser but I am looking at a used American Offshore. It's a 31 foot, 2001 model with twin 600's. Low time boat, seems to have a fair fit and finish and fast. Anybody know about the company?
Thanks
P Murphy

Indyboater,

I believe that American Offshore is a derivative of the Chris Cat. I don't know if they are still building or not but the website for American Offshore is still up and was apparently just updated a few days ago. Here is the link to it For info on the company try emailing Scott Hutchinson who is FASTCATS here on OSO.

Oh BTW, welcome to the board!

Well, I don't know this Scott guy. The web site is working. The little - between the words was why I couldn't find it. I'll give them a call on Friday.
Thanks for your help.

A friend of mine owns a 31 ao, with 502's and prochargers, it is a solid boat. and pretty fast. ther are derived from the 30 ft chris cat. As for the companies stablity, unless the boat is under warranty i wouldnt put that in the purchase, have it surveyed.

Check with Merlin540 on this board, he has a lot of 115+ mph time in his 31.

American Offshore originated in Grove Oklahoma. They sold MANY 3100's and a ton of 2600's. Ed Ferro (spelling) was the founder. The 3100 is an old Chris Cat mold. They are definitely fast. I bought my Prochargers for my 28 from Ed when they were still in Grove.

One of my good friends sold boats for Ed for a few years. He knows ALOT about them. His number is: 918-605-2723 and his name is Brad.

indy,
i know alot about the boats.... ed just finished building me a new 3100 that is incredible.... anything about the boats you want to know you can ask me or i can give you the info you need to get in touch with ed. I would now buy any American Offshore without first speaking with Ed.
