Yes, roller cam damage with synthetics is an urban legend these days. If it was true, every corvette since 1992 (first year with LT1 if I remember right) would be replacing cams and lifters at every LOF. They come from the factory with Mobil 1 in the engines.
I use Mobil 1 15w50 in my motors, 220 hours, no problems. Buy it in the 5 qt jugs at Walmart when they have them, its cheaper that way.

I have another question for this post. Why do a lot of people use multiple brands?

Amsiol in the engine, Redline in the drives
Mobil 1 in the engine, Royal Purple in the drives
Any other combination you can imagine.

Why not just stick with one brand? If Royal Purple is the best for your drive why wouldn't their motor oil be best for your engine?

Man what a tale ,,merc dealer I'm sure !! there are alot that work well in drives

REDLINE SYN>HEAVY SCHOCK PROOF GEAR OIL is the best I've found it leaves a proctive field on the gears and buffers the gears (shockproof))and is very slick and shear proof ,the drive should shift better also ,,,hope my stock in it goes up now ,(just kidding )
