project boat?
With the spare time of the summer, looking for something to keep me busy. Anyone know of any decent project boats around? Any ideas on where to look? Looking for old Aronow boat, old Check Mate, Baja, etc. Looking to spend less than 1000 on boat and trailer initially, with or without power.
Thanks, Tommy |
GOOD LUCK STUD....:):)

Tommy, Team Baja can hook you up, and with a little help from Too Old you can be big pimpin with this thing:crazy:

under a $1000 is going to be tough. Especially for a name brand boat. and forget about with a trailer. Beside any trailer taht you get witha hull for $1000 you arne;t goign to want to tow on eth road.

19' bayliner was mine. I made $6500 (profit) when i sold that boat, but then again i got the boat for free :D

Originally posted by Too Old Maybe you should consider an older lake racer outboard style boat. Maybe an old Glaspar G-3, Glastron, Hydrostream, Sidewinder or a bunch of others. It might be fun starting with a 16 foot outboard boat as your first resto project. Here's a project for ya......$175 |

Today I decided I am not going to drop a 350 into the boat...the motor will be mine and all the maintence, but the boat will still be parents so I would have to listen to them :( |

Thanks KN, I was able to get on that site and saw the info. Never heard of Alim but that boat is older than me. The freeboard resembles the magnum but the chines I believe are different. Thanks for the info bro.

If I were to talk dad into loaning me some $, does anyone think they could haul that formula to a boat yard that charges decent prices for storage for a month or so until I could come down there?
Tommy |
Tommy, you don't sell a Formula of that size for that price with out a damn good reason. That boat is junk or it's stripped. Either way, you don't have enough money to finish it. You'll sink alot of time and money into the project and then it will sit. It will sit for years until you either scrap it or sell it for a loss. I know, because I sold a boat that was just like that for the same price. Fred's suggestion is a much, much better idea. The boat is small and affordable. It's simple and something that you can learn from. Remember, you must take the baby steps before you can walk or run.

Cord, Catmando said the same thing last night in the chatroom, after adding up motor/drive/interior/gauges/bolsters, etc, it is a bit more than I will have in the next few years.
ps-do you still have the blazer? Tommy |
Yes, but there is absolutly no pressure or commitment.
