The guts of the question was, did "Apache" build a stepped 41. Not Nu Tech, Commance, Cherokee, etc. That answer is no. The new 41 will have a stepped option from what they have said so far.

The boat you guys are talking about was a splashed 41 from the old Apache Racing Team boat (red, white, and blue graphics) that was made into a mold. They called it a Cigar and the first one did a very graceful barrel roll down from Ft Apache when first tested.

And yes you can still get a 41

STINSON,

I'll be in your neck of the woods from the 26th - 6th. I just bought a place and I'll be there setting things up. Give me a call on my cell and maybe we could hook up. Mike F.

Wardey,
Yes they're right. Steve Schmidt of Competitive Edge Marine has the canopy version of the Cigar boat for sale. It had big HP and did run pretty good (120 ish), it's just the #6's were WAY to high and they had no steering. I'm not sure if the one he has, was the one that rolled.

The next question will be "who is apache?".

Does Mark Mcmanus still build boats with the Apache name? I think he owns the Apache Powerboats Trademark, and I assume Steve, and Bobby S. are licensing it.

Remember Mcmanus worked on the originals, just like Bobby Saccenti. If he builds one in the same mold, with the same style rigging, who cares what you call it.

McManus is Comanche and Mark McManus Superboats from what I understand these days. Bobby is Apache and I wont reopen the can of worms from there. But there is no licensing agreement between McManus and Bobby. Bobby is Apache.
