Sea Ya 06-30-2003 10:51 AM

The 26' was 15 years old with an Alpha drive. You're on you're way to stardom.

khadley 06-30-2003 10:54 AM

Can I get in on the race at the cincinnati run? oh i forgot A POKER RUN IS NOT A RACE

Eman 06-30-2003 10:57 AM

GETTEM 5!!!

but you'd better hurry before the infamous POOF:D

Allan4 06-30-2003 11:05 AM

I guess Sea ya has had his 2 beers for the night. Why can't we run our own Poker Run??

Just curious. Oh.....that's right, you imposed a size limit on the entrants, I almost forgot. SOrry, I guess we better pay attention to your rules or you will out run us. Geeee, wouldn't that be aweful. A boat that's probably 10 feet bigger and 3 x as expensive might outrun me.....you are breaking my heart. What would be really interesting is to see who can drive who's boat faster......hmmmmmm, that usually settles alot of arguements.

Anyway, I doubt you are gonna turn many heads in Cincy. Seems to be plenty of boys around here that can take ya out back the wood shed in any race. Just show up and ask, won't be a shortage of 100mph+ boats running around.

Hey CFD5, what's up chief....:D :D ;) ;)

CFD5 06-30-2003 11:08 AM

What, no more comments about size? Would that 15 year old scarab be one of those nuisance boats you were talking about? There you go, khadley has thrown out the challenge. You guys have about the same size boat right? I saw you at the cincy poker run too. Maybe next time you should start with your own class instead of dead last and running through the field of "nuisance" boats trying to act tough. You never did catch thoses guys did you, but keep on trying. Whatever makes you feel good about yourself.

CFD5 06-30-2003 11:10 AM

Hey A4. How's the 24 Outlaw running? Probably not as good as See Ya's mouth.

Sea Ya 06-30-2003 11:21 AM

I like Bajas, but I like to go fast and I like to go to Lake Erie and the Atlantic.

Ahhhhh Cat, as usual, your facts are wrong and you are passing judgement without knowing any of the info. Some things never change. Bad information + judgemental attitude + anger = wrong answer.

The Daytona has a stock 454mag and runs 66-67 with 2 guys, atleast this one did. It was really choppy and the boat was new (to that driver). I out ran him. Pretty simple. He is a freind of mine. Would it make you any happier if I told you that JDNCA1's 28 Daytona with 500efi's blasted me about 5 minutes later? Can you sleep now, or do you need to try to dig up something else on me? Keep trying Cat.....Look before you leap...also the P5 class is 60-69, not 70.

Now, go back to following me around the board and trying to catch me make a mistake.....you are now 0-1.

Damn...the entire point to this thread is to help a guy pic between a Baja and a Scarab, and as usual, a few guys with urine between the ears jump in and screw it up. Go check out my first post on this thread.....pretty benign, don't ya think

Later......:)

TEAMBAJA 06-30-2003 11:43 AM

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary online:

Main Entry: scar·ab
Pronunciation: 'skar-&b
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle French scarabee, from Latin scarabaeus
Date: 1579
1 : any of a family (Scarabaeidae) of stout-bodied beetles (as a dung beetle) with lamellate or flabellate antennae

There you have it folks! The Scarab is OFFICIALLY a DUNG BEETLE!

Please write down this information for future reference!:D

Mike, good too see you are getting well, I'm sure you got my pm. It seems you are definitley making the best of your situation.

The boat, in race setup, with some ballast and a load of fuel runs right at the top edge of that speed limit. The gas weight really slows it down, plus in order to keep it drivable in chop you need to be conserative on the trim and tabs. I ran the Cincy race, in the river with 3 mph current and did not break the limit. I could not have broken it if I wanted to going up river, not even close. I had to be careful down river, but that is part of dealing with the conditions. Still water with that setup and it is right in that 68-69 range. A heavy boat with a low x, a race crew, race gear, 400lbs of fuel and 500 hp is not much of a speed demon:D :D :D

My point of mentioning this was that while other people are out bashing Baja's as "junk" and "cheap", I kept my mouth shut and went out and won a P5 race in mine. Not to prove anything to anyone, I just wanted to race and can't afford a $500k race boat. So, If that doesn't tell people something about these boats, then they are not thinking correctly. No, they are not Fountains or Cigs....but they are good boats for the price and they will handle the abuse if the crew can.

Maybe some people on here have to know how to drive a boat, just not talk about how fast it can go.

Adios....:D :D

I heard that the 25 daytona out ran in rough water but that you beat him in smooth water

THRILLSEEKER 06-30-2003 12:08 PM

I have always wondered "what SCARAB meant"

Now I know:p

Sea Ya 06-30-2003 12:16 PM

CFD5, I didn't choose the class in Cincy. I've complained the past two years about being in the "slow" class. You're right about me passing every boat in that class. I also passed more than halh of the fast class that had a ten minute head start. Let's race in the ocean, after all this is an off shore web site. Actually it's off shore "only". This thread started as 21' Baja vs 22' Wellcraft, neither of which has any business off shore.

Mmmmmmm, I don't know that he beat me in rough, but it was definitely a better race when choppy, when I got it up to speed, While getting up to speed he was faster in the rough, no doubt. But on long runs that was not the case. Either way, it was only by a little, not like I toasted him, just pulled him some.......HOwever......hahahahah....All he needs is about 30 more hp and it is all over.....HeHeHe......:D :D

If you need a passenger for the Cincy Poker Run, I might not run my boat. Not sure yet. I may just add some gas $$ to the pot with one of you cat guys. We will be out wed night on the river....I'll call you wed to let you know for sure, but looks good.

Later humpy.....A4;)

That's odd......I thought you were the rule maker for this Poker Run...ya know....you banned the little "nuisance" boats from the Poker Runs....

Now, you are banning all the under 27' boats from OSO....okay.....why didn't you just say so.....

"HU HUM........ATTENTION......ATTENTION MEMBERS...IF YOUR BOAT IS UNDER 27' YOU MUST TERMINATE YOUR MEMBERSHIP AT OSO AND ARE BANNED FROM POKER RUNS AND ARE CONDEMED TO HELL BECAUSE A MAN WITH A 4TH GRADE EDUCATION FROM WEST VIRGINIA, WHO LIVES IN A SCHOOL BUS, SAYS WE ARE NOT OFFSHORE AND HAVE NO BUSINESS BEING OFFSHORE. PLEASE LEAVE AND NEVER RETURN AND FEEL GREAT SHAME, YOU ARE A SCHLEP AND WILL NEVER FIND SUCESS, HAPPINESS OR ACHIEVEMENT.........SORRY"

Allan.....the guy with the "little nuisance boat":o :o :o

TEAMBAJA 06-30-2003 01:11 PM

Ewwww!!!

SEA YA just PMd me and said he scored with his mom AND sister on his boat this weekend! Where is this guy from!!??

RollWithIt 06-30-2003 04:16 PM

Oh well. I guess that I should just sell my Baja and commit suicide. That or get a "Dung Beetle". Same difference. On a serious note. Both the Scarrab and Baja are good performers. True they are not to the level of Cigarettes or the other high line Offshore Boats. But neither is their price. The other thing that people tend to forget is that you can buy a 22 to 24 foot boat for a good price then bump the power up and outrun the bigger boats. Simple physics. A 24 footer with 600 horsepower will run faster than a 36 footer with twin 600 motors due to the added weight of the boat. Theoretically anyways. Plus you have the variable of gas weight, passengers, equipment and water/beverages if the boat has holding tanks. So just because some people can afford to spend more on a bigger boat does not mean they bought the right to run their mouths. You never know what the little nuisance boats are running.

thisistank 06-30-2003 05:28 PM

See Ya,

Whats with the attitude anyway bro? From your first post you've been negative. I didn't read anyone putting Scarabs down until you started attacking people. I don't think anyone here would say that Scarabs are not good boats. But lets stay on the topic here. He's looking at two specific boats. Which one is the better buy. This isn't a "Baja VS. Scarab which is a better boat" thread or "I have a big bad ass boat and everyone else piss off" thread.
Lets stick to the subject matter. Thanks. Oh and by the way, I do run my little Baja in the Pacific Ocean every weekend. BIG water is normal up here. My boat does just fine, it is an offshore boat.

OffshoreOnly 06-30-2003 09:35 PM

This thread does not seem to be going anywhere. Ladies and Gentlemen please return to your corners as this behavior is unacceptable.

We should only hope that if ever we are in trouble one day that a smaller (or perhaps larger) boat might come by and rescue us. We all share a common interest and that is boating. It does not matter what kind or what size it is, it is what each of us choose and feel comfortable with.

An old saying "We should not judge a man because he pulls up in a Rolls Royce or a sh**box, we judge him based on how he acts and treats others." The same rule could apply to boating and this thread.

My advice to trustnobody96, visit the OSO Classifieds and do a Power search for 0-$20K.

SABER28 06-30-2003 09:47 PM

come on , i like a good old fashioned pissing match:p

SABER28 06-30-2003 09:49 PM

what kind of boat does sea-ya have?

CFD5 06-30-2003 10:04 PM

Your right, no more talk online. Hey See Ya, I'll be waiting for that race, and the talk after.

Allan4 06-30-2003 10:09 PM

Hey Mike,

I wrote your number down and I will feel free to call you anytime I have any questions. Catmando just likes to bust my tail when he can...:D :D

Anyway, it seems the boat is a good P5 boat. I figured you would feel the same, as the race officials in Cincy felt we were properly placed as well. It was our first race and I was just doing what the APBA suggested I do. It would not be a good P4 boat, that's for sure. The poor thing is only 24 feet long and even with really big power, you could only run it in the upper 70's to 80 in good conditions...not 2-3-4 footers, that's for sure!!....Hahahahaha. We are only going to run a limited schedule this season, our next race will be the St. Clair River in Aug. Looking to run more in '04

Glad you are getting better. Great thing you are doing. I wish you the best and look forward to meeting you at a race someday. Be well.

Allan:)

Allan4 06-30-2003 10:13 PM

Hey CFD5, I guess that was you that poofed your post?? Anyway, it may have been OSO....that was a pretty funny post by the way.

SOrry OSO....just protecting my turf. You're reasonable, so you see the problem here I'm sure.

CFD....after you both dust me in this "race" you can buy me a beer...:D :D

Been fun fella's.....;)

A4

BTW....Hey Hadley.....no shark turns with me in the boat.....:D :D :D Hahahahahha.....Shark Turn.....HAhahahahaha
