Good News on the Press side:
Here is the response I got from the Enquirer reporter:
"Chuck, Would you mind if I sent this on to our editorial page to be published in the letters section? If so, plese send on your phone number so they can verify who wrote the letter. Thanks for reading -- and those are some REALLY cool boats! -- Reid" Needless to say, I'll send him my phone number to confirm everything. Look for it in the Cincinnati Enquirer soon. Glad most of you liked the letter. It's not so hard to write when it comes from the heart. Don't worry about the "Cigarette" thing - I'm old enough to remember when people called a refrigerator a "Frigidair", and a vacuum cleaner a "Hoover". And most of use still call hot tubs Jacuzzis.... |
Bouy, here are some e-mail addresses:
[email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] This is pretty much the list Todd and I put together. I forgot to mention that Todd (bajaboat) is going with me tomorrow. Thanks as always Todd. I was just told that Micheal Jordan will be on channel 5 news tonight at 11. You all may want to tune in. Wild....thanks for the info. Last week I went thru 6 1/2 hours of depositions for a lawsuit, so I am kinda still in the "mode"...hahahahaha. I will do my best to avoid the spin, if it is presented. C, great letter, great news. Thanks a ton for helping our plight. You certainly have provided a good vantage point and your help is greatly appreciated. I will mail you a copy of the paper when I get it. Thanks guys, I'm happy to be helping the cause and we'll do our best for ya ;) ;) How's that phrase go...."I'm just damn glad to be here....."...;) Allan:) |
Channel 5 did a good job of portraying us. Jordan did a good job this time as well a few comments like we take care of our boats like an antique car owner would, and the boaters he knows do not operate in a reckless fashion. Did he have to hire the girls though???????
|
I just saw the news clip with Micheal Jordan. He did a nice job. This was much more along the lines of what we want to portray. I thought he did good and wish he would have taken this stance in the Post article. It would have saved alot of us some headaches and complaining....;)
See ya tomorrow guys. Allan:) |
Does any one know for shure if the 21ft boat driver was not paying attenion when he was leaving water town , Im sure they were drinking too, did not pull out in front of the baja?I moved here from the cleveland area, and I have never seen such inexperienced boaters when it comes to the run abouts, half the time they never pay attenion , the let their kids ride up front or on the deck and try to pretend the have a go fast, not to mention the fing idiots on the personal water craft as well. The guy should be punished for not stopping. Well heres one for all the fing jecks condeming go fast boats,I have a perminet neck injury from getting hit while tied off buy a drunk in a large fishing boat that left the dock at shooters in cleveland, at full throtle, so now what ? Its not the gun that kills its the person firing it!!!!!

Allan and Todd -
I e-mailed everyone of those links this morning. I was surprised to see Scott Sloan on the list. I used to live in Toledo and he has a great drive home talk show. I used to call into it regurarly. - Hell, I even used to play a little hockey with him. He's a good guy, and level headed, I believe he would understand our side of the arguement - and present it properly. Have a good time tonight. Educate them well. Still haven't been hearing much on the recovery of the family injured. |
I spoke with chanel 19 and it seems they are interested in doing a story on the go fast boaters, and here our side, will keep you in formedd, might need some of you guys for the interview

Count me in since everyone thought that my 40' Fountain was the one that did the run over. Were putting a Scarab 29' with twins toghether now to go fast
|
Panteraman, We will be down there and looks like Ch 12 wants our side as well. We have a good angle being we lease out boats to anyone and actually teach boating safety to our leasees and racers. Not to mention we have not had a n accident yet in 5 years of racing. (keeping fingers crossed)

There was a story about it in Evansville IN paper today. We are a little more than 3 hrs away from it.
I know they been calling all Hi perf boats cigarettes, but in the paper they referred to the 21 footer as a "picnic" boat. Haven't heard that one before. |
Just spoke with Alan4, he was launching as we spoke with the news crew. Alan and Chris - thank you for your efforts!, also good job yesterday MJ.
panteraman - if we could coordinate this on a sat, we could probably put together a respectable turn-out... also, good point, the 21 footer said his nav lights were on, but could he have not been paying attention? Unfortunately, that still doesn't justify leaving! one more thing, the Dayton KY PD is commenting that the "boat is wiped down", am I the only one that cleans up the boat immediately after pulling it out?, before I put it away, say it ain't so:( |
I saw some decent pics of the Baja, if it ran completely over another boat I would think there would be more damage. One broken outdrive, another with skag broke, and a 3-4 inch scratch up near the front. We all know that a minor tangle with a dock leaves bigger scratches then that and we all know there are things in the river that will do this kinds of damage. I am not saying he is not the one that did it, but I would think there would be more damage. I wonder how much time they are spending on the 21 foot picnic boat, I wonder if there are pieces of the broke gimbal or skag in the boat.
I just hope they are not waisting time on the wrong boat. The guy may be a jerk but if he did not do it turn him loose. Ok, I am off my soap box now. |
Hey,
Allan4 just called me and said the interview with 12 news went really well. He expected it to show up at 5:00. He is meeting with the Post this afternoon as well. Keep you eyes and ears open for the good vibes that Allan is sending out about the hobby we all love. |
Post a link for us once it airs.:)
|
Tell me something PLEASE. Why do cars have headlamps to use after dark and we have a little red/green light on the bow and a white light on the stern and use land marks to guide us?? Never understood. This is no different than making us where seat belts & have air bags in our cars in states that have no law for a motorcycle helmets!! I think the best thing I've heard here is a speed limit of 10 MPH after dark. No accidents in how many years!! Not bad.:eureka:
|
Pantera-
I'd be glad to speak my opinion if need be. I didn't get home from work until 6:30, so I'll have to wait for the 11:00 news. Looking forward to seeing the report. I did recieve e-mails back from both Kim Dillon and Scott Sloan. Unforunately I was unable to make it to the water this evening. Just trying to do my part. Bouy |
Hey guys, just got home. I think it went pretty good today. Kinda funny though, we went out in the boat with the 12 news guys and spent probably 45 minutes to an hour, I was miked the whole time and they interviewed me on camera for probably atleast 10 minutes or so, then the actual story on the 5:00 news (I just watched a tape of it) was about 60 seconds long...Hahahahahahaha.
They did not include alot of the stuff I said and wanted them to mention, but, you know how it goes. They did a nice job of giving us a better than fair shake I think. Really cool guys as well. All in all I think it was a positive. The Cincy Post guys were great as well. Todd and I took them out for about 2 hours or so. Very nice guys and he thinks the story will run either Thurs Fri or Mon. So, I'll let ya know. THanks a ton Todd (Bajaboat) for all your great help. Thanks Itllfli for coming down and helping out and thanks to all the guys I talked to yesterday and today who gave me some pointers, good ideas and so on. Hope I portrayed the image that you all wanted me too. I just wish they would have included a little bit more of the stufff we talked about, I thought they excluded the meat of the good stuff. Oh well, it was fun.....gave me a great reason to blow off the day and be on the water by 1:30....:D :D :D I would post a link but there is not one for this segment....which means I either really sucked or.......well, that is probably it.......:D :D :D Take 'er slowwwwww....... ;) BTW....Panterraman, I am happy to give you a hand, just get a hold of me tomorrow and I'll do what I can if you want my help. |
Kentz, I wipe mine down everytime also....Interior, exterior and trialer....even the rims!! Just makes sense to me.
Bouy, Sloan is great! I think he has a great show. You used to play hockey...eh?? Does the rink Tam-o-Shanter ring a bell?? I'm sure it does....I bet I've played 25 games in that place.......Great game, perhaps the greatest. Broz, glad it was not you in the wreck. After seeing the pic, I can see why people thought of your boat. It sounds like the authorities are being very diligent and are making confident statements. We'll have too see what happens. Later guys, sorry for the double post.....:) |
Thanks guys for nice work. The real boat that ran them over is fixed buy now
|
Allan-
Tam-o, I've heard of it. Just kidding, I played there many a late night just playing drop in. If you haven't seen it in a while you'd be shocked. They completly remodeled and doubled the size of the building - added another rink. Much nicer place now, but I knida liked the gritty "hockey" feel you got when it was still grungy. Sloan used to have street hockey in the parking lot of WSPD in Toledo after he finished his drive home show. Usually a local Pizza joint would show up with about 30 pies to get some radio plugs. It was a good time. Looked in the paper today for an article on your boat ride last night but didn't see anything yet. Hopefully these guys weren't just spending your gas money on a free boat ride and calling it work. Any word of it going to print? |
Hey Mr. O
I think "personally" you summed it up w/your last sentence
|
Any news?
I was just checking to see if there is any news/forensic results?
Mr. O had some valid points. The damage on the boat looked minimal but could be misleading. I would also hope as a fellow boater we do not convict this guy in our posts w/o hearing the facts. If he did it, fine then smack him down. But, he could be innocent. In any event, leaving the scene (whoever did it) is not only despicable but downright cowardly. Wannabe |
Well the Post story seems to be pretty good! Here is the link from when Allan and I took them out.
http://www.cincypost.com/2003/07/07/fast070703.html From what I have heard they are still going over the Baja and trying to piece together what happened. |
Nice article. Thanks guys for all your work.
-Greg |
So what's going on? Does it look like they arent going to be able to nail this a$$hole?
|
Last I hear they think it is the boat but not sure on who was driving it. I personally saw some picturs of the boat and I don't think there is enough damage to it. I have seen bigger nicks from bumping into a dock then what they showed in the pics. If this is not the right boat then they will never find the one that did it.
Just my thoughts. |
Baja... NICE article!
|
His boat has been impounded (voluntarily) for a week now, no charges filed. What happened to "due speed"???? Are they running DNA on the hulls:D
|
Great article. I was worried about the way it would be spun & no spin. Looked to me like nothing but facts.
I am sorry the police are not sure of the boat that caused the accident. Hope the people are recovering alright. |
This guy has lots of money.....The police are being VERY careful..
Stay tuned....The fat lady aint sung yet !!! Any of you locals remember "Hard Times" The Fittapaldi CC that climed the rocks downtown ? Not much more damage to its hull. & why did this guy put his boat in at Schmidt field & pull it out at Moscow ?? {20 miles up river from Cin.}NOBODY uses moscow ramp...Bass boat ramp |
Good point Birdog.....
I looked for you at the falls last saturday but kept getting distracted!!:D |
Saw ya Sat. cruising through......I could'nt get your attention !!
wonder why ?:D :D Got home last night.........I'm getting to old for this sh**:D :D :D |
Not so fast Birdog....the fun has just begun:D
Yeah, I think the article turned out well. He left out some stuff but really hit most of the major points and gave us an honest story. Todd (bajaboat) was able to talk to him a little as well. No spin, but I wish he had stated more boldly that we are concerned for the victims and hope they return to the water soon and that we are not condeming "Snap Decision", for we do not know for sure if this is the boat. Other than that I thought it was straight. Hopefully the authorities can get their man, I'm sure they will. Thanks for everyone's help, especially Itllfli and Bajaboat. Thanks a ton and I hope you all liked the article, doesn't hurt to speak up and defend ourselves and thankfully the Cincy Post and 12news were professional and honest when they said they would report from our perspective, not theirs. True Journalism, well done to both entities. We'll try to keep the OSO'ers informed on updates, thanks for the support everyone ALLAN:) |
This morning on the news they said they expect an arrest in the next few days of Mr. Collan - owner of SNAP DECISION.
The report said they found evidence of paint chips and bodily fluids that will cause an arrest. Just keeping everyone posted on the latest going on in the news around here. Allan - The article came out well. I agree they didn't emphasize our concern for the injured, but they did make your point clear about the love we have for the water. They also empasized how cautious you were leaving the docks and entering the water ways. As I believe most of us are. Nice job! Well, - we'll see what shakes out in the next few days I guess. Bouy |
Is there a chance that Todd (Bajaboat) lives in Williamsburg on De La Palma road?
|
Nope
I live in Delhi |
