RPBA Poker Run- Who's going?
Who is going to the Richmond Poker Run? My wife's band got booked for a gig that weekend so she is out.:( So I think that Biggus might be coming down for it. If not, I'll bring one of my homies with me. I'm really looking forward to it.:D :D :D
Craig |
I will be there on my buddys 26 sonic. Is anyone planning anything for friday night?
|
I'm registered and ready to play.....mentally that is. I just discovered I have a worn gimbal ring at the top swivel pin. No one's got'em here locally so I've got my fingers crossed I can get one in and installed....
BUT! If all goes well I'm gonna try and come up river early afternoon on Friday to overnight and avoid the last minute meeting rush... Two weeks after that is the Little Creek Regatta run here in Hampton Roads www.littlecreekregatta.org |
Hey Rick,
What's up buddie:D :D I was kind of thinking about maybe towing down on Friday evening and sleeping on the boat. Do they have slips or can I anchor out? I'll give you a call next week and we'll take it from there. Craig |
There's a couple of Marina's with Jordan Point being the one I had in mind. Otherwise, up and around the corner is the sand-pits for anchoring and sleeping and I'm sure they'll be some fun there Friday afternoon...We'll all be in touch...
|
There are only two places I can think of that have transient slips - Jordan Point and Hopewell Yacht. The last I heard Jordan is booked, but you can try them anyway.
I'll be staying on the river Friday night with a small fan and my jumper-pack. I can act as "tour director" for anyone that wants to do the same. If you can, attend the first Captain's meeting Friday at 7pm so you can sleep in Saturday morning (I wish I could). |
Hey Craig,
I got the green light and I`ll be making the trip :D Thanks for the invite, looking forward to another fun time in Richmond :D  :D Kurt. |

Does Anchor Point have Transient slips? They are just a few minutes past Hopewell Yacht club (back up river) but you need to put in at Hopewell as they don’t have a ramp. Man, I sure wish I could have gotten my ducks in a row to do this run. Next summer, I will be much more coordinated in my boating efforts!
|
We will be there. Trailering down Friday afternoon and anchoring out with Cignificant's croud Friday night. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

mlitefan, yes Jordan Point does have a double ramp. I put my boat in there all the time. I'm just trying to head off a bad rumour before it spreads.
There are four ramps in the area: - Osbourne/Kingsland Landing (free - public) - up river from Jordan about 10 miles. Biggest boat I've seen launched there is a 43' BT. - Dutch Gap (free-public) - up river from Jordan about 8 miles. I know of a 38' Top Gun that launches there. This is my "least favorite" ramp in the area. - Hopewell Yacht (fee-private) - Never used it myself, but I know of a 33' Active Thunder that launches there. About 2-3 miles up river from Jordan. - Jordan Point - (fee-private) - I know of a 42' Fountain that launches there, plus I use it regularly. Hope this helps... |
Craig,
We'll be there. Looking forward to running down the James River. Steve, We'll probably come down early on Saturday. |
We were planning on this run, but we were just too busy. Top that off with my Dad and his wife are now coming in town next weekend, we are glad we did not commit. We'll make it one year.
|
Hey Biggus, leave the dog at home. We don't need any F350s slamming into things down here!!

Steve where are you anchoring at for the night? If the J-point is booked I might do the same and we could raft-up...
|
I'll be at Jordan Point Friday afternoon, to beat the rush. Looks like I may be runnin solo if anyone needs a ride.

I'm there and looking forward to as good a time as last year!!!
|
Is there any hotels in that area that is close to the boat ramp?
|
Originally posted by BobbyB Is there any hotels in that area that is close to the boat ramp? Bobby, what boat are you on? I don't show any "Bobby"s or "Robert"s on my entry list. |
We'll be there. Just got through changing all the belts on the boat. After the 175 mile run to WaterSide last weekend I found chunks out of both raw waterpump belts, They looked fine before the trip. So everybody check your belts, Could mess up your poker run!
|
I'm in and looking forward to being able to keep up with the pack.
(Explanation for that statement) The first Poker run I ran was in a 24' SeaRay. Needless to say, The harder I ran, the behinder I got. |
Cignificant, I will be riding on my buddy Steve Collins 26 sonic. So it looks like the plan is to stay on the boat on friday night.
|
I will be with beak boater (Randy Wilmoth 35 fountain). This will be our first year - about how long is this run?
|
Hey dreamboater, How is BeakBoaters boat running? I havent talked to him in awhile. When are you guys heading down?
Bobby |
The boat is running great. looking forward to doing this poker run. Yesterday he told me to be at his house at 5:30am Saturday. My guess is we will be trailering down early Saturday Morning.
|
Dreamboater, The run is about 90 miles oneway and average speed is around 45 to 50 mph they stress that it is not a race just a good time!
|
Biggus and I should be down no later than 3 pm on Fri. Is there a bar/Restaurant nearby or at Jordan Point?
|
There is a restaurant about 1/2 mile from JP called Dockside, but you can't get to it by boat (too shallow from what I've heard). Other than that, there's always your cooler....
|
I will be there but I am not sure if it will be Friday afternoon or Sat. AM. Steve, I will call you if I end up coming in on Friday. Look forward to the run:) and meeting more OSO members.
|
I hope to ride with RECKLESS this year, depending on when he departs.
Hey COWBOY, when are you leaving? Bryan |
hey guys, my wife and i are coming from south carolina in a 32 sunsation. may put in in newport news friday and make a trip to waterside, then head for hopewell early saturday. dr. ed and vicky
|
Brian - I plan on pulling away from Marina Shores NLT 6am Saturday. I think I have 4 riders (2 are confirmed) but my wife has a friend in town and her husband may ride along too. I can give you a ride up to JP to connect with Reckless if you don't mind the cozy environment of 4-5 guys in the cockpit :)
|
Sounds like a great time - we will be in the Red and White 35 Fountain lightening ts, see you there.
|
COWBOY, thanks man, I may take you up on that!
Still coordinating with Rick. Is Macklin or John A. running it? Thanks again. Bryan |

Bryan, Macklin is out, John is in..
Final tally (as of Wednesday) is 70 boats. (I was going to cut it off at 65, but I'm soft) The helicopter is locked and loaded... The video person is locked and loaded... The photographer is locked and loaded... Lunch is locked and loaded... The Banquet is locked and loaded... The band is locked and loaded... And, most importantly, our treasurer, (Suzi), has the checkbook to award the prizes. I can't wait to see this again, only with 17 more boats!!! And no, I won't sleep much until next Sunday. |
