Default Threadis Disappearis

My fellow OSO'ers, lend me your eyes.

There has been some uproar over the "poofing" (industry term) of threads. In my mind, however small it may be, poofing means that OSO deleted the thread. As we all should know, the thread starter is the only other person who may delete a thread. So, when a thread starter hari-karis their own dubious literary work for whatever reason, should we not have some other name for it? "Auto-poof"? "Suipoof"? "Mercy-poof" in some cases? We need a term/name for this other type of deletion. What say you?

It depends when it happens. Some threads experiance "Pre-Poof" while others show "Post-Poof" dendencies. Still, others can be classified as "Poop-Poof" and are just "Poof-Proof".

This is a general issue, not specific to one thread; however, I got the idea from this post:

The fur flies in F1: War of Words after Savannah (Post #1)

Watch the King and Queen of F1 at their mutual throats.

Accusations of reckless endangerment, of talking while under the influence, and of gross navigational inequity.

Live here on OSO.

The next reply indicated that the thread had been poofed. It begged the question, in my mind, who did the poofing.

Maybe we should say the thread was "spanked" if the thread starter deletes it. Rather than auto-poofed, or other things that I supose could be enjoyable, but really are a waste of time.

I think the threat in question was poofed by the person who started it. And that would be Gino, a.k.a Manitie. Threads can be killed by the board gods and by the person who started the thread. "Godfather" Augie had recommended that this thread should be deleted, minutes later it was.

As a term for committing thread harakiri, I suggest "pooficide."

Daze always seems to give a good answer, I'm sure he had some hopped up computer program spit it out, but I still like it.....
