Unhappy OT: Your prayers are needed...

As I write this, my older brother, Steve, is in the hospital's ICU hooked up to a ventilator, fighting for his life. He went into the hospital on Monday to have a benign pituitary tumor removed endoscopically through his nasal sinuses. This procedure is done routinely every day across the country, and in most cases the patient is back home in a few days. However, in Steve's case complications occurred, resulting in a stroke that has affected the left side of his brain. The doctors are not giving us much hope at this time. He is going in for another CAT scan this morning to see if there is any change. Please take a moment to offer up a silent prayer for him. At this point we will probably need a miracle, but sometimes they happen. I'm a big believer in the power of prayer and positive thoughts, so maybe this will help. If nothing else, maybe your prayers will make it easier for my family to cope with this.

This has really blind-sided me. He is only 46, and has four teen-age children. His oldest boy graduated as valedictorian of his class this past spring. An avid golfer, he had just recently built his dream house overlooking a local golf course, and was looking forward to enjoying many years watching the golfers from his back deck.

Sorry for the long post. Right now, boating seems pretty small and unimportant to me.

My heart breaks for you and your family.

Several years ago my father also had a major stroke affecting the left side of his brain. Today, while there is still evidence of that stroke, he enjoys an active and productive life. The medicens and medical procedures available to your brother to aid in stroke recovery far exceed what was available years ago. Hopefully God will see fit to allow these to work amazing miracles for your brother.

Sorry to hear about that. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Remember man.. There's always hope. Don't count him out yet no matter what the doctors say.
