Sold my Performance boat bought a new Formula PC top quality. I looked at the rest and it did not take long to decide what way to go.

Just found this thread again, I have decided on the 400ss but have not bought one yet. Here are some plusses and negatives on each one (my Opinion)

Formula, 400ss

+++ Great build quality, best warranty, good dealer network, can truly accomodate 4. Windlass is better looking than the donzi. more space. Walk through helm and nonskid up the middle. Head and shower are great size and functional

---- High Price (but good financing) Lots in the used market due to most people buying new, thus lower resale price. engine compartment needs more room between engines. I would like to see a better helm Burlwood does not do it for me coming from a performance background.

Donzi:

++++ Pluses, Wider beam, big engine compartment, best styling, more unique not too many out there, front walk through to bow, can get TNT Lift. Quality looked very good.

------Too small mid cabin, Performance on the one I test drove was mushy, it never seemed to get up on top of the water just plowed through. It had 500's and the nose would not come down (could not see).

Fountain:

++++ Fastest of all of them, race type helm, best windlass and anchor system. build quality looks very good but not quite as good as formula. shoudl be compaired to formula 370SS. Many more options for paint. Fewer out there may retain value longer. A little less money than the 370SS. Staggered engines now available (looking at it from a engine room space perspective).

------- Smaller beam, walk around style, harder to get to bow, Steps into cabin are steep and difficult. mid cabin space fine but smaller access way. Less storage, smaller head than most.

All these boats are in my price range but if I had more $$$ I would currently go for the 48EC By fountain with yanmars and surface drives. For me this would be the best of both performance, reliability and comfort.

If anyone wants my 47 Fountain it will be for sale soon.
