guys this run is the most organized one i have been too! also unlike other runs every body runs together. the water is great. boats from 20 ft to 50 every one can make this run easy. big flat 3 mile wide 10 mile long straight aways. and yes the water after downtown is 75% fresh. see you all there james 33 scarab avs.
|
scarabj,
Are you going to have those 800's in the boat or are you going to be a barnacle? |
Well maybe i will more than likely be carbed with no blowers it looks like it will cut it to close for the efi. but does it really matter with a big gun like a 155+ 36 nor tec coming and all the other big guns i will be in the middle of the pack. oh yea i forgot its not a race!!??
|
Just think of how I'm gonna feel if I go......:D ;)

Guys,
I come to an event like this to enjoy myself. Last year there were five of us that layed back an ran together all day. We made the long run all the way down. There was 26 Velocity, 31 Cig, 35 Cig, 38 Scarab and my 36 Baja. We were the very last group to the crab shack for lunch and the last group back to the marina. Just a nice 55 to 60 MPH run down and back and we had a BLAST! The big fast guys are exiting, but let them go and just enjoy your self. This is a very well run organized event and all those that attend will have a great time. Come on down and run with us slow guys!! |
Dock great idea i think i will try your style on this run. did you run down last year with that beautiful 31 cig bullet? what a great paint job!!

It is a great looking boat. He has actually done some paint improvements to it over the winter and it looks awesome. But that was us. There is nothing like being on that river five to six wide at 70 MPH. It was really a great run on the way back. See ya there. |

I believe this is a picture of your boat I took in Savannah |
Hey Doc,
I got the time off and Stacy and I will be there with OUR boat this time.I finally found a pair of props and we did a test run yeterday.I ran it up to 5K on the rpm and Stacy said the speedo needle was bouncing off of the bottom of the speedo which reads 80mph.I still have a ton of throttle left and these small blocks will go up to 6200 Rpm.Troy Dennis set the rev limiters at 8K but the tranny and the drives would never take that,I believe that is insurance incase of getting airborne(which I have no intentions of doing).I wish I had not left my little GPS at home to get a true reading. The cruise at 4K(which is what you want on these engines, according to the manufacturer)is a comfortable 55 to 60mph acording to the speedometer.Anyway these numbers were taken with 125 gallons of fuel and two aboard. We will be arriving Friday early afternoon and spending the night with Stacy's sister who lives on the trout river, which you cross going over I95 just past the airport. We would love to run with you guys like last year.See you and Tommie in JAX. Mark |
Mark,
That is great news! Really looking forward to seeing the boat. The numbers you are posting seem VERY slow. I would think you should be cruising at 65 to 70 MPH at least. Probably need to do more testing with props. Last year could not have been better, it looks like we are going to have another pack of boats taking up the rear. I plan to run a little harder this year to the first card stop just for the fun, then hang back with everyone. See you in a couple of weeks. Mark |
Doc,
If those speeds are accurate I do not know if they are,I am looking at about 13% slip which is high. But on the cats the faster you go the more efficient they run and at 60 I am just starting to air it out and you can really feel the transition. At below 60 or so the boat has a lot of bow steer and is sloppy.I may add about an inch of pitch and some cup and that may take care of some of the slip at lower speeds.I am running again this weekend and will bring my GPS to get accurate readings.
