You don't have to worry about the river north of Palatka where the run will be I think it is just a fun run that some might do after to Silver Glen. James

What are gas prices there now? Inland and Water. We are headed down labor day to drop the boat off at Don Racine place and then own to the velocity factory.

Dock Holiday 08-29-2003 07:04 AM

Bill,

You are certainly welcome. Anything for you good firefighting boaters! With the 5K first place we plan to win that will be NO problem!

Come on guys, sign up now. This run is a blast.

JetBoat, Thanks for the picture, I believe that was the morning of the run. I don't appear to be awake yet.:D

Velocity Mark,
Don't worry about the sand bar. Can a Velocity run that far? I thought they broke down last year?

Dock Holiday and crew are loading our guns now!

Dock only 1 of about 10 Velocity's broke down last year. But I do have my fingers crossed that everyone makes the whole run with no problems.

So 10% of the velocity's broke down last year. I did not remember it being that high of percentage!

Hope you guys have better luck this year. :D

How do things look with your boat? Are you and Mike planning to do all three runs?

VelocityMark 08-29-2003 02:07 PM

Dock 70mph Boats are kind of like Baja's they are a dime a dozen and anyone can have one. But when you break the 90mph mark you do tend to break things. With that said, you should be safe.

Yes we do plan on making the trip on Friday, and the poker run on Saturday, but I don't think we will have time to make the run on Sunday.:D

And if my memory from last year serves me correctly, you should know exactly what I mean by breaking parts in a not so stock boat.:p

Dock Holiday 08-29-2003 09:41 PM

OK boys, put down your money.

"We Got A Race". :D :D :D

VelocityMark 08-29-2003 09:49 PM

Dock I never said anything about a race, we were talking about a velocity that broke an outdrive last year. You know like the one you broke at the beginning of the year. And from that it turned into something totally different. All I said and if you will read my earlier post you will see it was (I have my fingers crossed that everyone makes the run without a problem).
But I am sure if you guys want to play there will be some faster Velocity's than mine there. Maybe another boat with 2 engines instead of 1.

Dock Holiday 08-29-2003 09:56 PM

Mark,

You are taking all of this way too serious!

I'm just like you, I pray everything holds together. If anything breaks it will sure ruin a great weekend, not to mention hurt the pocket book.

If you look at the number of boats in Jacksonville last year compared to Savannah this year, we were all pretty lucky at Jacksonville.

I have never met a boat I didn't like, and trust me, Velocity's are very high on my list.

It is exciting that a manufacture like Velocity gets involved in this event. I look forward to seeing all the toys they bring.

Like they say, it's not how fast you are but whether or not you finish. The outdrive I broke in July was the first thing that has failed me in a long time and when you are crazy about maintenance like I am it really does concern you.

What ever happens, the wife and I just look forward to being with all our friends and having a good time.

Isn't it past your bed time?

mikes280 08-29-2003 09:58 PM

you boys calm down.but you know the crews for north carolina did bring the fastest single engine boat the fastest boat of all the boats we won the poker run and we all had a good time looken forward to seeing everyone in jacksonville

Dock Holiday 08-29-2003 09:59 PM

Mark,

You got any pictures of the dash with the new gauges installed?

I have really been wanting to see out it turned out.

Dock

mikes280 08-29-2003 10:02 PM

oh and that single was faster than 98% of the twins and it did not break

mikes280 08-29-2003 10:04 PM

hay doc wish you could have come down to our mudd hole we did have a lot of fun thak weekend missed you and tommie

VelocityMark 08-29-2003 10:05 PM

Dock I have been trying to enjoying the little bit of summer that we have left after the winter project that lasted until the 4th of July. And we wont even go into what happened that weekend. But I have not taken the time to get the dash panels made. I am going to try to have it ready before Jacksonville.

Dock Holiday 08-29-2003 10:06 PM

Mike,

It is known in our area that you know how to build an engine. If the engine looks half as good in the boat as it does their in your living room it as to be awesome.

See you down there.

Dock Holiday 08-29-2003 10:09 PM

Mark,

I hope you get it done, it will sure look nice.

I bet you have a whole new respect for fuel quality, boost pressure and crimped lines.

Heard a little of the story.

Just glad you will be able to make it.

mikes280 08-29-2003 10:10 PM

thinks but that not the living room thats the garage my engine compartment need work not as clean as marks i wanted to ride in may will clean it up this winter

Yeah me too. I really hate we could not make it. I bet you missed Tommie more than me!

Sounds like you guys put on a good show. I have had two people that don't even own boats to comment on all the "Cigarette" boats on Wylie that weekend.

Well now, that's disappointing. I thought it was the living room.

I cannot think of anything any cooler than sitting in your easy chair with your favorite beverage watching Jesse James on Monster Garage and glancing over at that bad monster!

VelocityMark 08-29-2003 10:16 PM

Dock one of those Cigarette's will be going down with us this year. We are all excited about the trip.:D

mikes280 08-29-2003 10:17 PM

Jacksonville Or Bust

I believe we all have one thing in common and that is that we all will have a good time in Jacksonville as we did last year. Good luck to all those who participate and I look forward to seeing all of you. Have a nice and safe Labor Day Weekend.
