Hey Doc,
I got the time off and Stacy and I will be there with OUR boat this time.I finally found a pair of props and we did a test run yeterday.I ran it up to 5K on the rpm and Stacy said the speedo needle was bouncing off of the bottom of the speedo which reads 80mph.I still have a ton of throttle left and these small blocks will go up to 6200 Rpm.Troy Dennis set the rev limiters at 8K but the tranny and the drives would never take that,I believe that is insurance incase of getting airborne(which I have no intentions of doing).I wish I had not left my little GPS at home to get a true reading. The cruise at 4K(which is what you want on these engines, according to the manufacturer)is a comfortable 55 to 60mph acording to the speedometer.Anyway these numbers were taken with 125 gallons of fuel and two aboard. We will be arriving Friday early afternoon and spending the night with Stacy's sister who lives on the trout river, which you cross going over I95 just past the airport. We would love to run with you guys like last year.See you and Tommie in JAX.

Mark,

That is great news!

Really looking forward to seeing the boat. The numbers you are posting seem VERY slow. I would think you should be cruising at 65 to 70 MPH at least. Probably need to do more testing with props.

Last year could not have been better, it looks like we are going to have another pack of boats taking up the rear. I plan to run a little harder this year to the first card stop just for the fun, then hang back with everyone.

See you in a couple of weeks.

Mark

Doc,
If those speeds are accurate I do not know if they are,I am looking at about 13% slip which is high. But on the cats the faster you go the more efficient they run and at 60 I am just starting to air it out and you can really feel the transition. At below 60 or so the boat has a lot of bow steer and is sloppy.I may add about an inch of pitch and some cup and that may take care of some of the slip at lower speeds.I am running again this weekend and will bring my GPS to get accurate readings.
