Attention ALL SOUTHEAST Boaters...

Now Hear This

One of the best poker runs in this area is right around the corner.

The Jacksonville Firefighters Charity Poker Run.

It does not get any better than this, Firefighters who many are boaters, bringing all us crazy offshore guys together in beautiful Jacksonville, Florida to have a GREAT time and raise money for a good charity.

My wife and I have done six poker runs and I have to tell you that all six combined did not equal the good time we had in Jacksonville last September.

These guys really know how to do it right.

I am sending in my reservation today and I have committed to Bill Pyburn to get at least 25 boats in down there from the North Carolina area. I think my count to date is around six to seven that I know of.

Guys I need your help. Mark your calender now and make your reservations for one of the best weekends you can have.

Rooms have been blocked at the Adams Mark river front hotel, they are $79.00, $89.00 and $99.00 per night depending on your view. It is a GREAT hotel. The hotel is only a couple of blocks from the marina. This is the Jacksonville Jaguar Stadium Marina!!!!!!!!!

There is a ton of parking at no additional charge at the stadium for your truck and trailers and they plan to have 24 hour security for both your boat and rigs. The ramp to use is Arlington Marina, it is very easy to get to, only a couple of miles from the stadium and they will shuttle you back and forth to make it very easy to get your boat and truck to the stadium.

Friday, September 19th, fun run to St. Augustine!!!!
This is a very pretty run!

Friday Night, captains meeting on water front and party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday, September 20th, Poker Run south of Jacksonville on St. Johns River with a stop for lunch at the famous "Crab Shack"!! The stop at the crab shack alone is worth the trip!!!!!!!!! This place is AWESOME and has the longest dock I have every seen. Last year I think we had 80 boats there at one time with very few rafted up.

And it keeps getting better!!!! For those of you who can stay Sunday, there is another fun run South to Silver Glen. I have not been there yet, but hear it is a beautiful place with crystal clear water. I cannot wait to see it this year.

First Place Prize Money $5000.00
Second Place $2500.00 ( I think ?)
Third Place $1000.00

And remember we are doing this for charity!

The entry fee is only $250.00

PLEASE sign up today for one of the best weekends you will have this season! And help me get the boats down there that I promised Bill I would.

Contact: Bill Pyburn

E-Mail: [email protected]

Cell #904-388-6637

Or feel free to call me here at the office and I will be glad to fax an entry form to you.

Mark Terry 704-881-0031

Lets get signed up now so they will know how many people to expect and have plenty of food and beer!:D

For those of you worried about salt water, FORETABOUTIT!

The poker run is in fresh water south!

I have had my boat in salt water six time now and the key is "Cleanup" & "Flush Out". No big deal and you will never know you were there.

Barry, Flashback, Sonny, Brian Jones, Mike Nichols, and all those I'm missing, Let me hear from you!

The above picture was at one of the fuel stops last year on the St. Johns River.

I believe they are going to bring a fuel truck in at the crab shack this year with 93 octane!

vagrant 08-18-2003 11:30 AM

Hey Mark,

Carolina Power Boat Assoc will be well represented . We have strong commitments already. I believe most have signed up. This will be a great poker run to attend.

Mark,
Thanks for the invite. Sounds like a great time! Would like to do this run sometime. Is the "I think" for second place because you spent the winnings last year a little to fast:p

Allan,

I would love to see another Baja in the run, there are going to be a bunch of Velocity's there.

You would really find it worth the drive.

Alright Guys!!!!!!!!!!!

This is getting exciting. I spoke with some guys last night with a 32 Skater running around 135 MPH that I believe I have talked into coming down.

Movin-On, you better watch out this year, that skater guy says he eats "Ducks" as a snack!

Come on guys, this is for a great charity.

Help the firefighters to help those less forunate with MD.

Thanks
Dock

MovinOn 08-19-2003 09:13 AM

Hummm .. duck's for snack's eh!! my my this is getting exciting.

Allan4 08-19-2003 12:15 PM

Is this an inland channel run or offshore??

How long is it?

I assume it is all salt??

I won't know for a few weeks whether I can make it or not, is the entry fee refundable (I know, stupid question, but I had to ask)

Sure sounds fun, let's see what happens.

Dock, I'd love to see that 36, that's for sure!!

A4;)

Reindl Powerboats 08-19-2003 12:44 PM

Doc,

Great meeting you last year.

The run is Brackish and was a BLAST last year. Is Craig P. going to be there? We will look at our schedule and see if we can make it again.

Chris Reindl

Dock Holiday 08-19-2003 12:44 PM

Alan,

This is an inland poker run from Jacksonville South on the St. Johns River.

The water in the Jacksonville area is brackish, but turns into all fresh water as you go South on the run.

Really, DO NOT worry about the salt, it is not a problem in this area.

If you go on the fun run Friday to St. Augustine you will be in some salt water, but it is an inside run from Jacksonville on the intercoastal water way.

I promise you would have a great time!

talked to the new owner of THE JOKERS WILD boat while in destin last weekend, he came over to our table and got his registration form. this is one of the most impressive boats you will ever see. with a little luck we might get a few free passes for lollipops, his club in daytona.

Chris,

Same back to you, we made a lot of very nice friends at this event.

As for Craig P. this guy has disappeared off the face of the map. He was so into this run last year and looking forward to this years run, but he is no where to be found.

I heard he sold his boat and moved north to Maryland or somewhere like that?

Hope to see you in Jacksonville!

Doc,

I'm not really that worried about the salt, just curious about where the run took place. Something about trialering a 24' boat 1k miles to face 8-10 seas...hahahahaa. Pkus, maybe bring another boat(s) instead/or/ in addition to mine.

Man...this is tempting!! Let me wee how the next few weeks shake down.

Sounds killer.

Mark,

Surely Fed-X can do without you a couple of days!

Just draw one of those other guys a map so he will know where to land!!!!!!!!!!!:D

The picture of the boat looks great! Not convienced yet that you really have a boat. You better show up and prove it!

Tell Stacy hello for us. See you in Jacksonville.

Allan,

I know the feeling! Our very first poker run was the FPBC Keywest run in 2001. We trailer all the way to Miami with a 272 Baja and we way out of our league, plus Hurricane Michelle decided to come to town and it was a little rough even for the big boys.

There were at least twenty boats in your size range last year at this run. You will love it, come on down.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you out.

Plus you may win the trophy for the longest tow!

Dock

Allan4 08-20-2003 12:43 PM

Hey, if I drive to Detroit first, them turn around and go directly to Jax, that might take the cake...hahaha

I'll know in 2 weeks or so whether or not this is gonna happen for me.

I'll let you know. Good luck with the fund raising and thanks for the offer for help.

;)

vagrant 08-20-2003 01:19 PM

Hey Allan4 come on down you will be taken care of.

Holy Cow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That sounds like a winner.

Come on guys, Bill called me a couple of weeks ago and said he had a "BIG BAG OF MONEY". We got to all get down there and claim our share!!!!

Allan4 08-20-2003 07:08 PM

Thanks Vagrant.....if it were soley up to me (and I was irresponsible:D ) I would be there for sure. As it is, I'd love to come down, I'll see what I can work out.

Sounds like a ton of hardware is gonna show for this one.

See ya fellas....;)

Tell that guy with the Nortech that he needs to change his port of origination......I am all about the longest drive contest....HeHeHe....:D :D :D
