My parents recently crossed the Atlantic and they hit a Whale, had many flying fish land on the deck and had to dodge tons of lumber and containers that fell off ships. The Whale did a little damage to the rudder but not enough to strand them. I feel sort of sorry for the whale, it looks like it waas hurt rather bad.
