Pier 57 Fountain Cat...
|
Bill Proctor's (OffshorePerformance,MD) 46 Cigarette at 114MPH!!!
|
Copelands Fire breathing Turbine, as it smelled like lighter fluid going by as it then drenched us with its 100' rooster tail at the Emerald coast PR:D
|
I'd have to say "Jet Set". Those turbines winding up are something else again. Got chills when he'd come out the inlet at the Point Pleasant race shooting flames out the back.

Without question for me, it was Bob Russell's 42 ft. Outer Limits with twin 1350's, and on the back of the transom is the name "Can You Hear Me Now". At the OPBA's spring poker run (I was a card boat), when he throttled up to run across the bay to the Hyatt, there wasn't a window in five miles that wasn't rattling. I've never hear a boat just "spitting" noise like that boat. I was in love. The OPBA guys when running down from St. Pete in ROUGH water and doing around 60 or so, Bob went by them at twice their speed with a rooster tail not to be believed. I did not see that, but was certainly told about it. But the sound I did hear, nothing like I've ever heard before.

My vote goes to the Callan Marine 45' Turbine cat! My daughter and I watched them do some testing and they buzzed us @ 175 mph and it was truley incredible!

Go to Sorcererboating.com and listen to this thing at idle.

Fire & Ice - Outerlimits
|
Without a doubt, it has to be a toss-up between the Callen Tencarra and the Sorcerer's Drag motors.
|
MY WAY! Those turbines, that paint job, the rooster tail.......
|
I have heard Callan, Big Thunder, and Bacardi Silver and nothing I have ever heard compares to Big Thunder running right off the Sea Wall in Key West from Mallory square. I think the closeness of the boat and the reverb from the buildings and Seawall made it twice as mean.
Thats my vote and anyone who was at Mallory square in 1998or 99 would probably agree |
Sorcerer, no question
|
I would have to say the Sorcerer.
That thing lopes like nothing I've ever heard before... |
Of course I have not heard the other boats in this poll but the inXS Fountain has been and probably always will be my all time favorite offshore racer. You could hear that thing before it came over the horizon. Someone should post videos of all boats in the poll if you have them.

Before I even saw the chioces Iknew I was going to vote for INXS. That boat was just WICKED loud!:D

No question about it, the Sorcerer! When there is 3 or 4 seconds between lopes, and the lopes are just heart pounding, that is horsepower.:D Unless you have heard it in person, you can't even comprehend.

my comanche
|
I guess most of you guys have never seen a T/F boat blast through a 1/4 mile
|
I agree- the seawall at Key West is a natural amplifier for loud exhaust. I'd have to vote for INXS- with its sideways-facing pipes, people would have their ears covered when the boat was over a half mile away in anticipation. It was downright painful, but you had to love it! Big Thunder has a cool sound, but not quite the crackle or db of the old INXS dry pipes.
|
Sling .... you'de better watch yourself over on the OTHER board. They only allow butt-kissing ... any negatory comments about someones boat results in being banned
:D :D :D |
My Way, Jet Set or possibly Planetman. When any of those was fired up, you knew about from afar.

Hey! Why isnt my boat listed here? :D
|
I have to agree with cigarette1 & jdnca there is nothing like Blown Nitro through Zoomie Pipes!!:D Also standing on the last dock at the Detroit Yacht Club when the Unlimited Hydros are running is Impressive.

And the winner is....... JetSet.
If you haven't heard a twin turbine boat come by at 180mph plus, you have no idea. It's like a 707 comming by just prior to take off. |

I have to agree standing next to to a Top Fuel Hydro warming the motors is unbelievable. When that thing gets to popping and they hit the throttle and blow the tent up in the air, you get chills. Simply awesome
|
T2x, it's got to be from this era and working to count.
