I have a 28 Pantera with twin 502 MPIs.
Too Old is right about the handling/speed.
The single engine 28 will run faster, but it won't run as smoothly in the rough water.
The rough water thing is why I bought this boat. I had been in and driven several others, but the test drive in 4-5' swells sold me.
The twin cuts through the waves and keeps it's drives in the water better than the single.
This twin isn't more than 15-20 mph faster than a single.. on the flat water. But, it will run a lot faster, with less pounding in the rough stuff.
Take a whiny girlfriend out for a ride in a single and in a twin.. then you'll see- and hear what I'm talking about.

This sounds like what Griff is referring to. That formy has twins, versus his P28 with a single big guy..

Come on down to Ft.Lauderdale. I'll take you on a ride in some real water..:hothead:

I know it's not FL ocean, but until you've been in the mess at LOTO, don't discount the need for a wave crusher.

Interesting comment about the twins crushing the water better in the Pantera. I've only had the luxury of driving VonBongo's ride (Deal pending by the way:D )

All I was saying is that if you boat in the rough.. make sure you test drive in the rough..

It actually took craig about 4 hours to sell!!! Although he had pretty much put the deal together before mine came in on trade. When my driver showed up witht the boat (saber) guys were like flys all over it. They did compressions checks and took it to the "ditch" for a test run. Craig called me the next day ans said it was sold!!
Gone before my driver even made it back with my new boat.

You are correct they are hard to sell. But they are great to own. I put over 400 hours on mine for a total of 620 hours in the great lakes and you will not find one crack anywhere. One advantage over the Pantera is that the saber has more freeboard and makes you feel a little more secure.

I would have to disagree that the 28 Saber is any harder to sell than any other boat these days ... as a matter a fact ... I think there's a few guys on here looking to buy a used 28 right now. It's all in the timing ... and a little luck too . Had my 302 scarab for sale all summer ... It left saturday and now the phones ringing off the hook ... Go Figure !?!?!?!?!?!
