the Velocity factory
I was just there. It looked like a boat business to me. I tend to look at the people running the place and not whats laying around or on the floor. David |

Fred Fred I feel your same frustration, and as always you are held in high regard . It takes a man to make a mistake and one to admit it. I believe there is another thread that has made apologizes for there feeding frenzy. Hopefully this will be yet another lessoned learned . Glad to see you back. David David |
Originally posted by Velocity Mark My point Treadwell was that the impression that you may get when you visit a boat manufacture is generally not as dust free or clean as a Winston Cup race shop. In my opinion one of the finest boats built is a Cigarette, but the factory that I saw before the new one was far from a Winston Cup shop. The boats are where they put there craftsmanship, not the facility. And the Velocity factory, for a company that builds less than 80 boats a year is more than adequate. I agree that alot of manufacturers have dirty, dusty looking building areas. I have been to most of the bigger manufacturers and they are pretty much how you describe them. BUT----- I GUARANTEE you that you have never been to Formula's Plant. It looks like friggin IBM World Headquarters, no joke! |
Hi, Gang
What a great reply from Pantera. What Jo failed to tell everyone is that several times he was advised that his boat was going to be delivered on Tuesday back in August. When Tuesday came along, got another excuse. Why can't Pantera just be honost and if boat not going to be ready by a given date, just state it. I know for a fact if Pantera would have told my friend that he wouldn't have a boat this summer, he would have purchase somewhere else. Thats all I have to say about this. |
mark,
i know what your point was that why i did not jump on you but there are many company's that are just like a winston cup shop. but i do understand the point you were making . enough said . Treadwell |

you should someday when you have time. formula is nicer than fountains. it's absolutly amazing what you can put in the middle of a corn field.

Too Old, now that Jo made his reply, everthing thing
Chuck and a couple of other guys have to say means nothing? I thought that was what these forums were for. To state an opinion. Maybe help someone out in the future. It sounds like Jo is a great guy and runs a great operation, but that won't stop frustration if you don't have your boat. As everyone says, both sides should have their say. Buy the way, I didn't see one post trashing Pantera, just stating their opinion on the situation. I'm a fairly new member (6 months) I think OSO is great and have been helped buy other members a couple of times. We should keep it great and not sensor other peoples opinions. Rick |
HI, iam Dominick the owner of the 03 pantera my friend Chuck wrote about. Chuck who is a great freind and a big fan of offshore only was not trying to offend anybody [specially the NUNEZ FAMILY]. My good freind Chuck has been waiting for me all summer to take out my new pantera. Every week i would have a excuse. I talked to Jo today and everything seems to be okay. This my second pantera. I am very loyal to this brand and family, i sold one to my best buddy also. Its the only boat i think i will ever own and want to own. I live in NY, so our boating season isnt as long as some other states. We go from memorial day to just past labor day, so you can see why my friend Chuck was trying to get some answers . He did that and i thank him for being a caring friend. I hope that what he wrote diddnt get to many people upset. I enjoy dealing w/Linda, Jo, PEPE, AND BARBIE. I consider them to be my friends, and i do no that they do make a great boat[awesome boat]. So thanks for all the feedback and JO thanks for letting me no whats up. HAPPY B-DAY JO. DOMINICK

Yesterday hearsay couldn't be posted fast enough. Today the silence is deafening. Fred Does anyone actually read these threads? This may be settled with all of you but as far as I can tell a delivery date was not promised to Chuck's friend. I also did not post what Joe claimed I did about the full payment. Go back and read it. I think it's funny how so many people have posted here, who do not have a first hand buying experience with Pantera. If it's not your money in the poker game then I don't think your allowed to bet. I also think if you are going to vouch for someone then you better be willing to put up the cash in their place if they default. I know the banks like it that way too. |

What has been learned from this thread?
Don't ever pay for a boat in full up front! If you order a custom boat it is Par for the boat to be months behind schedule, I'm not saying it's right, but that's usually the way it is. Jo always answers questions and is always available to get in touch with. How many other Boat builders are on here to answer questions and offer a lifetime warranty on a RACE boat. Pantera is by no means perfect but they do try very hard in a Business that is most difficult to keep dead lines. I have learned that boat building is a very difficult business, there are so many variables that it is tough to keep dead-lines. Bottom line, when you get your boat you most likely will be happy. I have gone through this more than once and I know it sucks not to have your boat. I have had it out with Pepe Linda and Jo on more than one occasion and in the end you will be HAPPY. They are good people with good intentions! That's hard to find in todays world. |
This post should be left alone. This particular Internet application seems to be pro-consumer. A resolution may be in sight that won’t require legal eagle warriors- imagine that!
I would like to see the Pantera folks answer this post. It would not be a good business move to ignore an issue that is now in front of so many. My advice to Pantera would be, if you are wrong, admit it and show us that you are concerned. If you have had a stroke of bad luck, this group seems reasonable and will understand. My first ride in and offshore powerboat was in a Pantera- it was fantastic, I will never forget it. |

Didn't follow this thru and thru but what's up with chuck? What did he do?

I can't believe i just wasted a half hour reading this thread, but then again there is bickering in all forums, what continues to surprise me is how much emotion comes out in these threads.
Having said what may be misconstrued as negative comments, this sort of thread is one of the primary reasons why forums are successful...it is often about reaching out to a helpful community. The only thing that resonated as disconcerting in this whole thread were for calls to close the thread, attempting to detract from free speech where there is no malice that is truly un-American. Having said my peace, if you feel compelled to flame me, bring it on ...but I would prefer to keep it civil :-) This is a great forum, I would expect you want to keep it this way! ...and I must say I am laughing at myself for commenting on a 10 year old thread and the fact that it is 10 years old says a lot of good things about this forum :-) |

Nothing concerning Pantera habits are just "allegations" They have multiple court ordered judgements against them over multiple years with a history of using the same courts to avoid legal recourse. No comparision to those snake oil salesman IMO.

Do these threads ever have a happy ending? Did everyone who ordered and paid eventually get their boats?
Hard to discern from the millions of threads, which come to an abrupt ending. |

You can have your opinion, but when that opinion is based off of lies and facts being concealed, it really isn't an honest evaluation. learn all the facts then cast judgement.

You more than anyone should appreciate the ability of this board to figure out right from wrong, had not one of the members caught your boat plight on film, you would be in the same place as chuck, your word against the tow company. Chuck and I have been in the same circles for years, we met briefly at a run in Burlington Vermont. Bob/otis311 is a closer friend of mine whom I trust implicitly. Chuck first told me what was going on over 6 months back, being in the car business as well I know all too well how certain people at dealerships tend to use the dealerships money as their own and once they start padding their own pocket the dealership starts to lose profit. As the owner of the dealership stated in the article it took quite a while for it to catch on. being a hyundai dealer and hyundai being the second most desirable car over the past couple years i can also see where she would have been able to hide the money. I know all the details as I was privy to them, but it's not my place to tell. in short I believe and 100% would trust chuck in any type of transaction, you don't have to, I'm ok with that as I'm sure he is. we cant please everyone..carry on :) |

NO, there is no happy ending for most of us. We got an unfinished boat. Pantera agreed to a settlement then never paid. We paid for engines that we're never purchased by Pantera and many other issues. The settlement with interest is over $100k now.

Agreed.....and I do. But before I carry on....
Thieves and liars should be hung. It appears openly that both situations you mention have the above mentioned. A jury of popular opinion means nothing in the real world of law. As much as I have been defended here, as a clear victim, I still have to prove it in court that they are thieves and liars.....much like chuck has to prove that he is not. If he is innocent, why plea? I will spend every penny I have to defend my claim that my situation is absolutely a product of their negligence. Why would someone with a definite position compromise their name out of convenience? Again...thanks to all here that defend me relating to my boat debacle, and thanks to all that despise thieves and liars....
