It will fizzle. Call that storm Fizzabel.

I know that 100ft + wave heights were registered in the October "perfect" storm (Discovery Channel) but it just seems impossible. I couldn't imagine a wave that high.
I've seen some footage from storms in Lake Superior taken from frieghters with 30ft+ waves and that was incredible. The water would just roll right along the deck of the ship. Those 1000ft'rs looked pretty small in those films. I don't think I would want to be on one at that time. |
Troutly as I recall from the Discovery channel show even in that rescue the helipopter pilot was saying that they would be scrapping the tops of the waves then there would be about a 40-60 foot drop down to the bottom. The 150's I have gotten from fishermen that I have talked to. Were the Andria went down I think that they were saying that they were fighting the roughs up to 100 but these fishermen were saying and I can not recal were (probably in the outerbanks) that there were reports of the really huge stuff. As far as 60's being big they sure are but in the banks that is not rare at all. That is one NASTY part of the ocean.
As far as the book being close to the trueth? How the hell do they know? There was no survivor and there was no contact with the boat for hours prior to the sinking so who knows what they were experiencing. Guess that makes it as about fictional as can be ;) |
All you need is a good throttle man and a little tab.

Fred
How close are you to the ocean and how do you expect the hurricane to affect you? Roger |
Glad to hear that and I hope the best for the others who will feel the full effect.

I'm sitting about 60 miles from where the "eye" should pass through Virginia. They're predicting a lot of water damage along the coastal regions (HRPA - hang in there!!). Here, we're expecting up to 75 mph gusts and about 8-10 inches of rain. Most schools are closed until next week. My main concern are my elderly parents that live on the water in Va Beach - too stubborn to leave!!
And, I just did my liquor/beer run. We're having a hurricane party in my garage Thursday night!! |
Cignificant go get your parents and bring them to the party!!! :D
Troutly I will try and get you the picture of the house on the cliff that washed away as the waves came crashing over it!! That was on shore were we know that the waves are a LOT smaller then they were out in the banks. Jon |
