gdfatha,
We watched the races (myself, HavasuCig and Jody165) in Mission Bay and then went out in the Ocean to play. We went down to S.D. harbor. I'm not sure where ski beach is.

Havasu Cig,

Was fun. Let me know next time you guys run over to Cat. I'll bring the Scarab and clean out the carbon :-).

Have fun at the Havasu poker run. I'll be at Mead relaxing with a little ski boat.

My buddy has very high resolution versions of those pics if you ever want them. They are 5M pixels so you can blow them up or zoom in and they will still be very clear.
talk to ya later

gdfatha, Sorry, I missed your question. There were some offshore race boats that were part of the opening ceremonies but the poor guys did 3/4 of a lap at 50mph. They had to fully suit up for the ordeal. Nice for them to be able to show the hardware but I doubt if it was impressive to the crowd to see them at 40-50mph.

As SemperFi mentioned, we went out into the pacific and put the throttles down during a lull in the show. That's where those 2 pics came from.

Most importantly, a piston powered boat beat all the turbine unlimiteds including Miss Bud. It was historic. I hope they put the "thunder" back in the thunder boats.

I would think that 85k is a pretty good deal for the old Ohio Steel - Nada Chance!!!
