While I don't have a picture of it handy but I think I might be able to contend for this one... Returning from deployment during a hurricane back in the early 90's I was in command underway when we stuffed the deck of my aircraft carrier into some pretty hefty waves. The result of the splash even landed solid water on the windows of the bridge witch is at 112' height of eye! Now that's stuffing a seriously large boat!

Ship stats:
Keel Laid: January 9, 1961
Launched: February 1, 1964
Commissioned: January 23, 1965
Decommissioned: August 9, 1996
Builder: Newport News Shipbuilding Co., Newport News, Va.
Propulsion system: eight Steam Boilers
Main Engines: four Steam Turbine Engines
Propellers: four
Blades on each Propeller: five
Aircraft elevators: four
Catapults: four
Arresting gear cables: four
Length, overall: 1062.5 feet (323.8 meters)
Flight Deck Width: 252 feet (76.8 meters)
Area of flight deck: about 4.5 acres
Beam: 129.6 feet (39.5 meters)
Draft: 35.8 feet (10.9 meters)
Displacement: approx. 82,200 tons full load
Speed: 35+ knots
Cost: about $400 million (1961)
Planes: approx. 85+
Crew: Ship: 2,900 Air Wing: 2,480

We had a tree service working at our house Sunday. The owner was on the sister ship of that Carnival ship, and was at sea the same time. He said the captains made different decisions on how to get around the storm, and that Carnival ship made the "wrong" decision, underestimating the storm surge. He contends the picture is real.

Not that I believe a tree-service person, but who knows...
